Food is always delicious, and I’ve eaten there several times. however service wasn’t great this time around /: After eating 4 pieces of my Godzilla roll, I noticed a very thin black hair laying on top of my remaining rolls. I called over our server who then took the plate back. After about 2-3 minutes she came back to me with the plate on hand and said it didn’t appear to be any of the chefs (which was obvious because they were all males with short hair, however both our female servers both had dark longer hair). She then proceeded to say they wouldn’t charge me for the sushi only for the teriyaki chicken (I ordered the lunch menu). After stating she wouldn’t charge me for it, she then asked if I still wanted to finish my plate. Like did u seriously just ask me that??? Sooo, I politely said, “no thank you, not with the hair that was on it.” And yes it was just a hair, but that’s still gross. If it was my family members or something, whatever. But it wasn’t. I think it would have been common courtesy to bring out another roll to replace the other one but nope. That didn’t happen. I continued eating my chicken teriyaki which was delicious. Once finished she brought the bill and I was only discounted $2 dollars which was 15% off my total bill. Like what? I was embarrassed to have to say anything regarding what she was charging but I also didn’t think it was right. Plus she had stated earlier they wouldn’t be charging me for it. So I questioned her as to what exactly she was charging me for and said it was the discount for the $2 extra it cost to make that roll. 🤦🏻♀️ 50% of the bill is what they should have done. By the end of all the back and forth I said, “here just charge it.” I was annoyed, and embarrassed and by that point I just wanted to leave. She took my payment to then come back and say they were just gonna no charge it. I think the entire situation should have been handled differently from the get go. Not to mention as I walked out with my coworker they all just stared at us as we walked out. I never raised my voice or spoke loudly as I didn’t want to embarrass them or draw attention to them for having to take a dish back. It was just all poorly handled. Common sense ppl common sense. If there’s a hair, u apologize and bring a fresh plate out. I don’t think I’ll return after today’s incident...
Read moreThe atmosphere and food of this establishment is truly appeasing. My husband and I sat at the sushi bar and watched the artists work their magic. They serve a small complimentary dish of lightly cooked edamame lightly sprinkled with salt. We first ordered the gyoza and it was excellent. The sauce was salty/sweet and had very nice balance with the meat filling in the dumpling. The outside was nice and crispy without being greasy. My husband's Yakisoba Noodle dish came with miso soup that was delicious for a simple soup. My husband's dish had a very nice flavor with it. His only complaint was that the shrimp were over cooked. My dish, however, was divine. I ordered the Northwest Philly Roll. It was filled with smoked salmon, cream cheese, and avocado. It was deep fried and served with Paradise sauce, masago, and scallions on top. I'm a huge fan of fried rolls and this was so creamy and crunchy without falling apart. My one issue I had was that the top few pieces were very spicy. I believe that the gentleman making them had jalapeño on his gloves as he made it and it transferred onto my roll. It was so delicious I still barreled through the spice. They accidentally made my husband's Yakisoba he ordered with Udon noodles instead. The waitress made it up by bringing us green tea ice cream drizzled with chocolate sauce. It was fantastic and perfect for the end of the meal. I highly recommend Aki Sushi. My one caution is that the dining area is very small and you may find yourself waiting for a table. Worth it...
Read moreI went here based on the recommendation of a friend. I ordered the Sashimi Dinner and the Nigiri Dinner. I have never had sushi so flavorless as what I had at Aki Sushi. The rice was wrong (it was clearly not sushi rice). All the fish was flavorless. All the nigiri was pre-soaked in sauce; one of which was spicy, and I have a near-allergy to spiciness (it causes my mouth to blister). The server did name each fish, but not that there was sauce when we were served. None of it was eel, which would have explained a sauce. When I asked about the sauces, I was told that some chefs soak the fish and some don't. Even some of the sashimi were pre-soaked in sauce and the ones that were not had ground radish added to them. Two pieces of the sashimi were still attached due to a poor cut. This was, frankly, worse than I could get at a supermarket.
Immediately after eating there, I went to a different sushi restaurant to make sure that I hadn't suddenly lost the ability to taste umami. I hadn't. Aki Sushi was simply bad. I do not recommend if you like fish, rice, or a comfortable setting. The floor management needed some help too. During our 30-minute meal, we had three different servers, so I'm not sure who my tip went to (because of course I tipped, it's not the servers' fault the...
