Our family of three just came back from Duke's in Kent Station, celebrating Father's day for my husband. I wish I could give a better rating but they sadly dropped the ball on this one. I'll start this by saying I am deaf in one ear and reduced hearing capacity in the other. I rely on seeing a person's mouth when speaking, these days with face masks that is difficult and frustrating. I let the host know this and his reply was, "oh, that's okay." It's okay that I can't understand you behind your mask? He also said something about a QR code menu and tried a couple of times to have us scan it. I don't know how to do that and I couldn't quite understand what he was saying about it. I felt dismissed by his comment and he grabbed paper menus for us. Then he asked us if we're celebrating anything today...uh...it's Father's day? Maybe management should remind their staff of holidays? Because of covid 19 they were reduced in how many people they were seating and I worried about getting a table because of the holiday. No worries there, it was not at all busy. We still waited about 15-20 minutes after being seated to finally be noticed by our server. While waiting, we discovered we were given the lunch menu, not the dinner menu. Serving staff was scarce front of house (yes, I used to be a server myself) so we had to for the menus to be switched to dinner. The staff were all wearing masks according to CDC guidelines, I get that. While I was telling the server that I am effectively deaf, she cut me off and started speaking very loudly. I was going to advise her to stand 6 feet away and remove the mask so I could see her speak, but I didn't get the opportunity. The few times she was at our table throughout the meal she raised her voice. Service was very slow, except for the meals delivered about 5 minutes after the appetizers, that was annoying in itself. My husband and son enjoyed the salmon dishes they ordered, and they were very good which is why this is not a one star rating. I ordered the macadamia halibut. What I got was an overcooked, hard to cut into chewy piece of fish. The accompanied sauce was more flavorful than the bit of rubbery mass on my plate. Halibut should be a very flaky fish but this most certainly was not. Accompanying the fish were some baby red potatoes and zucchini. Gotta say, the potatoes with that buerre blanc sauce were really good, but not $40. for the plate good. Our server did not come check on us during the meal, didn't ask if we enjoyed the meal. She was spot-on about bringing refill drinks, though she didn't stick around long enough to get her attention. I ate a bit slowly trying to get this overcooked fish eaten, my husband and son were finished with their meals and they enjoyed them. Pet peeve alert! Do not ask a customer if they're ready for dessert if they're still working on the main course! And yes, this happened to me. I feel rushed to eat my meal when a server asks if I'd like to have dessert. There was no opportunity for dialogue about the meal as I said, the serving staff was scarce front of house. I just wanted to get out of there ASAP so we paid the bill while I sent half the fish back uneaten. Our server didn't question why there was a good portion of my meal remaining. One thing I did enjoy...the sourdough bread and butter was very good. But not good enough; I won't be back to the Kent location...
Read moreI always love coming to this location of Dukes because the team is always great. Always with a smile. Kind and hardworking. Always striving to provide great service. On my birthday last Saturday, my fiance had asked where I wanted to go and I told him Dukes. I called in advance to see if it was too busy and was told it was not, but when I had arrived, there was only booth seating available.
I asked the host if they could provide a table instead and they said they were already reserved for other parties. I was a bit disappointed. My hips lock when I sit in a low booth and is extremely painful. I told the host I would if I had to I would because I like it there and it was my birthday. But the host didn't want me to be uncomfortable. The host said they wanted to see what they could do and so, he went to talk to the manager. The shift manager then came out and introduced herself. I have horrible memory, but I had her write her name at the end of the night. I believe it was Lanetz. What a sweet and professional woman. She listened to my concerns, went to brainstorm, and came back to tell the host who opened up a table for us for a bit so that we could sit and have dinner.
Then, Lance came along and was our waiter for the evening. He was kind, attentive, addressed all the questions I had (I get confused sometimes), and he was patient and served us kindly. The rest of the staff that also came through for the night also were cheerful and wonderful. My future hubby and I will for sure be back. Thank you for the fresh and delicious food! Not to mention, man did our food come out SO FAST! We enjoyed the lovely special that they have going on right now and a little birthday desert of their lovely marion berry pie and ice cream!
We love coming here on our special occasions and want to thank Duke's for making this girls birthday one to remember. I sincerely hope from the bottom of my heart that you all get the recognition that you all deserve this holiday...
Read moreI was visiting Seattle and met up with a friend I had not seen for 20 years, so we had some catching up to do. We decided on Duke’s Seafood as neither of us had visited previously. It was a Wednesday night around 6 pm when we walked in. First impressions for the location is a good area. Plenty of parking and there is outdoor seating when weather is cooperating. We were able to get inside seats for two right away with no wait. Immediately after being seated, we were promptly offered drinks. I tried the Yonder Cider, followed by Truly Wild Berry, both gluten free and both were delicious! If I had to pick one, I would go with the Truly Wild Berry, very strong in flavor. For an appetizer, we chose the Super Calamari Steak Strips. First time for me eating calamari where it is almost like a thick noodle with breading. There were two sauces to dip with a small string salad. All of it was excellent and I would order it again. For a party of two, the portion size was perfect. Larger parties would want to order more portions. For the main course, I ordered Off the Hook Stuffed Wild Salmon. It came with roasted potatoes and peas in pods, surrounded by a buttery sauce with pesto. The Salmon had Dungeness Crab in the middle. The dish was excellent and I would without a doubt order this again. This dish was the best Salmon I recall consuming in a long time. Service was great. We were there for at least two hours catching up and after we let the waitress know we had some catching up to do amongst friends, she gave us some time to order as we were delinquent in reviewing the menu a couple times, lol! Overall, if in the Kent area, I would visit again. Price for one appetizer, two meals, and four alcoholic beverages with tip was...
