Ana's Cafe and Southernmost Grocery close @10pm — Restaurant in Key West

Decided to stop by for a quick bite around 7:45 pm since my son was hungry, and the lady behind the sandwich counter was extremely rude, the folks before us were served with a smile. For us it was the “get out of here” look, responses were rude with a flat unfriendly face. We are colored and of course you would think that was the reason.. we walked out. We see great reviews for this place, unfortunately our experience was terrible! . We enjoyed the day, but Thanks for ruining our evening.

Edit : replying to owners response - there was absolutely no confusion on the menu (window vs inside), we were inside reading the menu on the board. The lady who we spoke to was not busy; if you saw the security footage you would see we were the only customers apart from the ones who ordered before us, at that moment. She just was upset that we were there and she literally left the counter after responding to us. The ones who ordered before us were greeted with a smile. So there’s no excuse for the impolite behavior with us. It’s up to you as owners either accept and correct the mistakes of your employees or ignore and blame it on us. Poor quality food and service…I am so disappointed to be making this post, bc we have been coming here for years and have always had wonderful food and service...we went for breakfast today and ordered two orange juices...they were bottled and Tropicana brand..the juice looked almost brown and had chunks of something floating in it (it was pulp free), but we took it and my son tried it bc the expiration date said November 2022...upon tasting the juice, it was clear (for whatever reason)it was spoiled! I took his opened drink and my closed drink to the counter and let the man working behind the counter (maybe the owner) that the juice was spoiled and we wouldn't be drinking it...he rolled his eyes looked at the date and said it's not spoiled...I said it's not drinkable. He took the juices and put them down in front of him...didn't offer a replacement or refund or apology of any sort...completely shocked at the level of rudeness and lack of customer service...my son got an empanada that was not edible due to the amount of grease dripping from it, there was so much that there was a puddle of grease under the empanada sitting the in container that was served to him…we probably...

Friendly but slow service. Just wanted to get a soda, took me 5 minutes as only customer waiting in queue. Also more expensive than other places.

Though a big plus imo, is the surrounding terrasse.

I know Ana's places around in Key West. Usually it's more satisfying than this experience. Gonna correct whenever my next visit gets better.

Actually editing my review : going from 4 to 1 stars Because : while sitting here, the actual owner (as he introduced himself) walked around and jumped around like crazy to chase the chickens and roosters (imo he was more than drunk)... However, asking him if he is alright, he answered "this is my f$#king business, do you have a f$#king problem? then f$#king leave!". Shouting and being riding and remembering to behave himself didn't help. And all I earned was "this is my f$#kimg business". Well great behavior.

So far my overall LAST visit at any Ana's shops around Key West. For this incident o highly recommend to AVOIR...
