Food was great. Service was ok, not bad. We were getting sprayed with crab juice from a nearby table because thatâs what happens in a seafood buffet so I didnât notice until halfway through the meal that water was literally dripping down from the ceiling onto our table. We finished our plate as water wasnât splashing onto it and waited for the waitress to come to our table. I asked for the manager and she asked if something was wrong, and I told her about the problem. She said âthis has been happening all season, weâve had people complaining about it. Itâs just condensation, Iâll get the manager though.â The manager took her sweet time to get there, which made me feel like they arenât taking the problem seriously. The manager gets over to our table and she says the same thing. I ask her why sheâs continuing to seat people here and if she knows that water dripping from a dusty/moldy ceiling is a safety concern and she says âI donât know what measures the restaurant management has taken to get the problem fixed.â She then looks at our finished dessert plates and says âwould you like me to move your seats?â And when we obviously said no she ended the conversation and walked away. After that nobody continued to serve us and we had to take our checks to the front to pay. After the service we received we will not be coming back and it shocks me that a restaurant like this would throw food safety out the window. TL/DR: food was great and service was ok, but the restaurant itself doesnât care about providing a good experience for...
Read moreWe have gone here almost every year for the last 5 years of our vacation. Let's be honest about buffets. First of all, the atmosphere is very nice and feels upscale compared to most buffets. Secondly, the food choices are for an adult appetite. There are foods for children such as mac and cheese and mashed potatoes, but nothing like chicken fingers or burgers, etc. Our children enjoy fried fish so our youngsters had that. There is a full bar so the drinks of your choice are available. We did have quite a few items that were on the cold side for temperatures that needed to be hot, such as chicken wings and prime rib. There are mostly seafood options with a good selection of crab and crab products. You can for $25 add lobstertail to your buffet price. My wife has celiac disease, and they do have a large selection of gluten-free items, as well as the chef being able to prepare fresh gluten-free items, including dessert. The staff every time have been phenomenal and attentive. Pricing, in my opinion, is ~10-15% higher than it needs to be for the food offered. There is nothing such as lobster, fillet mignon, sushi, fresh scallops, stuffed seafood, included that warrants the price. The price is set to offset those that come in to only eat the crab legs. All of the above being said, it's probably the nicest buffet restaurant on the outerbanks. If you want more high-end seafood options for a similar price, albeit in a dive/family basic atmosphere, you may consider jimmys...
Read moreThe quality of Captain Georgeâs food has went down tremendously!!! The Captain Georgeâs that opened on the OBX and the one in Va beach were my absolute favorite place to go growing up and now I live in Kentucky and all Iâve been thinking about was going on Vacation and eating that amazing seafood! But on July 3rd 2025 all of that changed drastically⌠for me and my family!!! The crab imperial had imitation crab meat now instead of real crab, the Norfolk plate that had the mixed seafood in it now no longer has real crab meat in it thatâs now imitation crab meat as well⌠𤎠they now have cheap fish, popcorn shrimp, dried up oyster Rockefellers, and rubbery crab legs that are way smaller than we remember, not to mention the photographers that walk around and take pictures of everyone, then come back to the table selling them for $15 apiece! For the amount of money we paid per person (which were acually really nice photos so we spent $200 on those alone!) I guess weâll have those photos as memories of the old Captain Georgeâs.. This place used to be something to look forward to but sadly Iâve come to the conclusion that I will never step foot back in that restaurant again especially after spinning $800 tonight⌠that included 11 people, 2 mix drinks and 4 shots plus whatever drinks everyone else were drinking, plus my husband and I tipped $100 to the waiterâŚWe walked away with 900 less dollars and highly disappointment because now we have to find a new favorite...
