We ordered a 2-tier cake for our wedding celebration party and to make it easier we said we would pick it up. They assured me that when my mother-in-law picked it up that it would be easy to transport and boxed up nicely. When she arrived to pick it up they handed her an unboxed cake for her to take out in the pouring rain. After being asked to box the cake, it didn’t fit the cake and the box was open and we had to ask them to cover better because of rain and they taped wax paper on the box. The cake was cracked on the bottom tier on one side and by the time we went to cut it the “good” side was cracked as well. We were going to be in the area on vacation for my birthday this year. I found this local bakery and was not disappointed. I gave some inspiration pics to give an idea of a design I was looking for and I was so happy with it! Cake was delish! Frosting wasn’t overly sweet like traditional American buttercream. It makes me wonder if it was an Italian buttercream? The Laconia Village Bakery far surpassed our expectations in every way! From the initial contact and theme presented to them (pirates), we were not disappointed. They suggested the size based on my headcount and they were spot on. The cake was chocolate with a chocolate ganache filling and buttercream frosting- it was delicious!
