Simply. Disgusting. That includes the service. I always look for redeeming qualities in hotels. I look at all aspects when making an honest review. I take into consideration everything from the neighborhood to the cost of the room, amenities, staff attitude and attentiveness. These places can contain unique perks that sometimes go unnoticed to tourists and those unique things can be what sets apart a not so great great hotel with benefits, and just straight up dumps with zero benefit to you, the customer and traveler. After all, it's your trip, not theirs. Well, upon pulling up, there was absolutely nobody at the desk. I then asked for a luggage carrier and then was told "There is one somewhere around here". Cool thanks. I found one while my girlfriend parked the car. Upon loading all the luggage onto the cart outside we brought it inside only to be told there is no elevator to the third floor, so all that luggage you just loaded, can't go anywhere as the only way to get up the 3rd floor, is stairs. Farewell luggage carrier! Looks like were making several 3 flight trips to our room. So we get our Key. When I say key, I mean a solid brass Key with a tag, welcome to American Horror Story. The Laconia NH version. I came to town for business and my girlfriend came along as so we could enjoy the local scenery and njghtlife when I wasn't working. I got a flat tire on our way back from dinner the first night, and the tall guy at the counter when asked "Hey, any chance you would know a tire shop in the area?" and I get, "Does this look like a car garage?" No sir, I figured you might have some friendly local information for a patron of your establishment, sorry. Now, let me yell you about the rooms. One word. Horrifying. From the deep smell of rank, old musty/moldy fabrics to the innate, inner woven stank of stale cigarette and bodily fluids. The first thing I noticed was the television in the room. Televisions tell all. Our room had a 15" CRT, that is, a "cathode ray tube" television. You know, the kind your grandfather had, complete with faux wood panelling on either side. Unique? No, sorry. Just sad. Keep in mind hotels and large businesses have the ability to purchase these things in bulk, 50 rooms/50 no name flat screen TV's at a discounted rate from China at cost would be minimal as far as cost/benefit goes. The benefit to be able to have and show your guests that you do in fact renovate once a Century. Not this heap though, it has NEVER been renovated. That much is clear. From the dirty, ground in vomit green carpetting to the hair that litterally looked like they had been sprinkled all over our bathroom floor and tub. The ONLY benefit I could see for any member of the human race to stay here would be if you were a Death Metal band and you played a concert across the street at "The Whiskey Barrel Music Hall" and needed to rent a hotel out because you knew that it would get destroyed with your Rock and Roll antics. Choose this one, because considering the location, the tall sad man behind the desk who offers zero help, information, clean towels or otherwise, that is the only thing this "hotel" has to offer. Damaging things in this place may actually make it more desireable, may if enough rowdy bands come in and rent rooms, you all can smash the TVs forcing them to get actual current televisions for their "less vulgar" guests, although those seem to be few and far between. Yelling all night through the walls, we heard smashing/yelling/smelled smoke/couldnt sleep/no tv/dirty bathrooms/zero service. Hotel HELL would have an entire season dedicated to this place when Gordon Ramsay shows up later this year. (Yes, I suggested he check you out) I wish I could turn back time before I ever stayed here. Good riddance and good luck to anyone who doesn't do their research. Gross. Unless your a Death Metal Band from the armpit of Germany, this place will not appeal to you in any sort of way. Don't try the "Continental Breakfast" either, you might get a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTHE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER AT ANY BEST WESTERN OR ANY OTHER HOTEL!! Husband and wife at front desk...He reeked horribly of cigarettes....Neither of them ever smiled or welcomed me. Mark began my check in and told me He couldnt help me to check my points or rewards... OK, my phone was dead, so I plugged in in in the lobby, had to go to restroom and she plugged my phone in behind the desk. Mark had left in that time, and she said she couldn't finish it as she didn't know where he was in the check in. After at least 1/2 hour, she called him and he said he was 10 minutes away.. HE LEFT HOTEL TO TAKE A CLEANING WOMAN HOME. His wife said the woman lived 10 minutes away. I arrived at 4pm and was not in my room until 5pm. Nither of them seemed to know what was going on around there....all negative responses instead of, "What can we do for you to make it right" From there, they were totally rude. (other guests also spoke of that) Much more involved, but not going into it as THE MAIN REASON for our problems was that I had to wait around an hour to get into my room! The cleaning staff did a great job on rooms. The property has some major repairs needed. Deck outside of pool had a broken fence area that if someone leaned on it, they would fall around 15 feet down to concrete. The whole time there, noone took garbage bag of beers, etc away. No door knob on door into pool from patio. My remote didn't work so the ONLY girl working there left her station and brought me a different remote around 15 minutes later...The TV reception was horrible and not many channels....Hotel smelled bad. I later asked for my free water as I am a rewards member and he began to say, "You should have gotten it at checkin" They didn't have any even though I read two pics, etc saying I would get it. Next night I was at Best Western Executive Plus in Manchester where I have stayed SO MANY times.. They gave me a bag with snacks, water. And they always have cookies out after 5pm KUDOS to them. I know them well now and highly reccomend staying there. I also heard that a lot of homeless and druggies hang out at the Laconia hotel and there was a stabbing there recently! Laconia Landmark Best Western represents the whole corporation and this place is terrible...worst I have ever experienced. ( and I have been in customer service retail, banks and medical) Never seen such awful people representing a large hotel chain being SOO AWFUL!! Rooms were clean.....There were many repairs needed there. MOST IMPORTANT!!!! HUSBAND MARK AND WIFE SORAYA (?sp) WERE ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!! I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT THE WONDERFUL BEST WESTERN HOTEL CHAIN WOULD WANT TO HAVE THOSE @ REPRESENT THEIR COMPANY!! And, Laconia is a popular place to visit.... THEY ARE A TOTAL DISGRACE to the wonderful Laconia community! NOT TO MENTION PAYING $300 for one night and to be treated the way they treated me!!! THIS HOTEL IS NOT "CLASSY" AT ALL AS THEY ADVERTISE!! (Maybe if they have new front desk employees and repairs that are needed. Someone could lean against the railing on the deck by the pool and fall 20 feet or more...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe stayed at the location in Laconia for 2 nights this past week (April 4-6) after losing power during a snow storm. For 2 adults and 1 kid it was a decent sized room. It smelled and looked clean but there were definitely things that needed improvement on, especially with how much the room cost ($161.00). Our room had a king sized bed and a pull out couch, a large desk, a mini fridge, a coffee maker, a rolling chair and a rolling footrest. there were plenty of storage areas for food and clothes. plenty of pillows and hangers for hanging our jackets. Our room had a nice view of the river which we really enjoyed. The furnishings were outdated and drab looking, but functional and mostly clean. The pull out couch mattress was thin and springy and uncomfortable for my kiddo. The big bed was actually quite comfortable, but all of the bedding and sheets were scratchy. 2 out of 5 lights in the main room didnt work (both lights above each side of the bed, one was even missing a lightbulb) and one outlet next to the bed didnt work at all. my biggest complaint has to be the TV. We only had about 15-20 channels out of a supposed 50 that worked, and because its winter and we came here to relax in the room, having good tv was pretty important to us. The tv was large enough but extremely grainy and blurry. None of the kid channels worked. The staff did not know why the channels weren't working and didnt offer a solution so we just dealt with it and used our phones most of the night.
The bathroom was stocked with 3 normal sized towels, 3 hand towels and a couple washcloths, they were all scratchy so I would suggest bringing your own towels! The water ran brown for the first few minutes, it was pretty gross. i would bring plenty of bottled water for drinking. The walls are VERY thin and maybe we just had bad neighbors but the sounds of banging, laughing, talking was pretty much constant. it wasnt so bad that we couldnt sleep through it, but annoying all the same.
All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The free breakfast was decent. the pool room was clean and warm, i didnt check the gym out but my kid enjoyed fooling around on the equipment for a few minutes. the location is right next to a walgreens and within a 5 min drive to tons of stores and food, and you can also doordash or get delivery from most places. i would stay here again if i had to, but i would look else where if youre expecting a...
