Eli's | Jerusalem Grill — Restaurant in Lake Purdy

Never have I ever been treated with such disregard as a human being. My husband and I come to this restaurant all the time. Never has the experience been so ugly. We ordered our food and we just waited and waited. The only other people in the place were 2 white couples which one was seated before us and the other came in just after we were seated. We watched as the server refilled the sweet tea of the other couples while we just waited. Finally my husband had to get up and go ask about our food. Because at this point the couple that came in after us was eating. I did order the lamb chops well done and was told after my husband went to check that this may take a little longer. BUT in the time we were waiting no refills were offered, no explanation was offered and we were NOT asked if we needed anything. We just sat and watched others eat. Finally we just went and asked for a refund. We then had to wait for the owner because apparently he is the only one who can issue a refund. The owner was less than friendly offering a very pitiful “ I’m sorry guys”. I have never begged anyone to take my money nor will I start. I don’t know if this was an off day a new server or this is now the way they treat people of color. But I can say they will not be getting anymore of my money. Patronize this business at...

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 an actual 5 star experience! I have been vegan for 11 years all in the state of Alabama. Most restaurants could care less about my vegan belly and any available options seem like an afterthought. But not at Eli's!! First off, as we walked in the door others were coming out with the biggest smiles on their faces (direct effect of happy tummies 😋) and when they saw us looking the menu on the window outside they knew we were first timers and began loading us with what we should get and how much we were gonna love the place. OKAY!! Then we get inside and we're greeted by 2 of the sweetest kids working there (old enough to work there, but hey I'm easily 3 times their age). Atmosphere on point, period. Now for this food! I'm not new to Mediterranean food. It's easily my top 3 favorite cuisines. But the food at this place was incredible. I'm not over reacting, just try it. The freshness and flavors taste like no other Mediterranean restaurant we've gone to. If you've heard about this place, believe the hype. I dug a coupon I'd been saving out of the drawer, and headed here to try for the first time. We got to-go because my husband had a late night of work to finish up at the home office.

Unfortunately, when we got home the hummus was missing. When hubby called there was a good bit of back and forth with the guy saying he watched his employee pack the bag, it shouldn't be missing. My husband wasn't sure what to say, but assured it was missing and offered to send a photo of the bag and what was included. The man on the phone said it wasn't necessary, we could just come back again and get one.

Since he was busy, I got sent on the long drive down 280 again. When arriving I was greeted by the owner with our hummus. I found it rude that he chose this moment to let me know that the coupon I had used was expired. But he went ahead and honored it. Seemed very snotty and passive aggressive to bring it up then. Also, who really cares when I use a coupon?? You mail them out as advertising to get people in the door, and it worked, I came to try the place.

I gave this place a try, and the lamb kebab and pita were very good, but I think we will keep going to Pita Stop where the staff have treated us more cordially...
