Located in the Arts District, Mi Barrio is a hidden gem a street over Main Street. My family and I tried to make reservations over their website, but it wasn't "open" to take any was our error. Thankfully when we called ahead to ask about reservations and our difficulty, we were put on the wait list and got in rather quickly! The space is small, colorful, and full of great energy! Seating consists of bar space, booths, tables, and outdoor seating outside garage style doors bringing outside inside. The Mexican twist on American brunch was what caught my interest, and so I HAD to try Mi Barrio.
To start, my mother had a Cafe de Olla (coffee infused with cinnamon and sweetened with piloncillo) and I had their bottomless mimosa (lavender). Cafe de Olla came with a cute little pastry to dip into your coffee (it will be dry, but traditionally is supposed to be like that so don't worry). Our breakfasts were delicious! My dad ordered a birria "build your own" chilaquiles, my mom ordered a birria "build your own" sope benedict, and I ordered the arroz con leche pancakes. The savory breakfasts were packed with flavor and well balanced while the pancakes were not overly sweet (was my only worry). I will definitely come back to try more of the menu!
Thank you Andrea for a wonderful brunch and the hostesses for helping my family get in to try your lovely kitchen. Thank you bar for our drinks, and a big thank you to BOH with all the cooks cranking out delicious food in the heat. Ya'll beat a bunch of brunch spots in San Diego and I've eaten at nearly...
Read moreMy visit to Mi Barrio in the Arts District of downtown Las Vegas was a delightful experience. Influenced by Instagram reels, I decided to check out this local gem, and here’s what I thought.
Mi Barrio has quickly become one of my new favorite local spots! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The Cafe de Olla was absolutely perfect…one of the best blends I’ve had in a long time. The concha was warm and soft, and the Sopes Benedict practically melted in my mouth. I opted for the Birria sopes and they did not disappoint.
The atmosphere at Mi Barrio is a perfect mix of modern aesthetics and authentic Mexican charm. The vibrant mugs and colorful murals on the walls create a lively and inviting vibe, while the traditional Blume deco porcelain tile floor adds a touch of authenticity to the overall experience.
Overall, I enjoyed my visit to Mi Barrio. The elevated Mexican breakfast and that unforgettable Cafe de Olla were the highlights of my day. The combination of delicious food, warm ambiance, and attention to detail makes Mi Barrio a must-visit in the Arts District...
Read moreMi Barrio in Vegas has officially made breakfast my favorite time of day—and trust me, I’m not even a morning person. But when you’ve got Birria Hash and Sope Benedicts on the menu, suddenly waking up early feels like a reward. Let’s start with the Birria Hash. It’s like someone thought, “How do we take a breakfast classic and make it mind-blowingly good?” Answer: slap some tender, juicy birria on it. The birria was so good- it was a full-blown fiesta in my mouth. My only complaint? I didn’t have a fork in both hands to shovel it in faster. Now, the Sope Benedicts? Absolute genius. Take a traditional Benedict, toss the English muffin out the window, and replace it with a crispy, handmade sope. It’s like they knew I wanted to feel fancy but still keep it authentically delicious. The poached eggs were perfectly runny, and the hollandaise sauce had just the right amount of richness. Mi Barrio’s breakfast game is seriously next level. If you’re in the mood for a meal that’ll have you questioning why all breakfasts don’t come with birria or a sope base, this...
