Stray Pirate is a one-of-a-kind whimsical immersive cocktail bar nestled in the heart of the Las Vegas Arts District, and it’s an absolute gem.
This isn’t your typical tiki bar. Instead, it blends tropical inspiration with a delightfully quirky pirate dog theme, offering a playful and unforgettable escape from the everyday.
From the moment you walk in, you’re transported to the belly of a pirate ship, but not just any ship. This one is captained by canines. The décor is both charming and hilarious, featuring velvet paintings of the owner’s dogs dressed as pirates, underwater-themed digital displays, and whimsical nautical elements throughout. While there aren’t traditional tiki mugs or décor, fans of tropical bars won’t miss them, the personality here more than makes up for it.
The space is well designed with a large bar on one side, spacious communal tables on the other, and cozy seating in between. At one end, you’ll find immersive booths that invite you into their own little world, and at the other, a fun photo op near the restrooms, perfect for capturing memories with your crew.
The drink menu is small but mighty, with each cocktail thoughtfully crafted. Every drink we tried was absolutely delicious, perfectly balanced, and creatively presented. This is a spot where quality takes precedence over quantity, and it shows.
Service was outstanding. The bartenders were not only skilled mixologists but also incredibly warm and welcoming, fun, and clearly passionate about what they do. They made the experience feel personal and engaging, like we were regulars from the first pour.
The location in the Arts District makes it a perfect stop before or after dinner, or as part of a bar-hopping night through one of Vegas’ trendiest neighborhoods. Plus, there are plenty of cool shops and art spots nearby if you want to make a whole afternoon or evening out of it.
Stray Pirate is a must visit for anyone who loves immersive spaces, quality cocktails, and a touch of humor in their night out. It’s creative, cozy, and full of character, a fantastic addition to the Las...

The outside of the bar was cute with the cannon and pirate flag. I wish the sign was a little more visible. Walking inside from the bright daylight is a huge eye adjustment as it’s very dark inside. I couldn’t see for about five minutes. Once my eyes adjusted I could see all the decor and it reminded me of a set from Universal Studios. It was very detailed with vines hanging from the rafters to LCD screens of fish and ocean scenes. It made you feel like you were at Bikini Bottom in Sponge Bob Square Pants.
The cocktail menu is extensive and I like that it rated the drinks with a scull and crossbones by the amount of alcohol in the drink. I am such a light weight this was greatly appreciated. I tried the Buck-o- Neer and the Swig & Berries and each was delicious.
As far as the aesthetics inside - the high boy tables are of no use without stools. Add stools and allow people to sit and relax. No one wants to stand for hours. Plus it just looks awkward to have high boys without stools in a bar. The second suggestion for management is to add food to your menu! The kibble and popcorn, as tasty as they were, is not satisfying. It’s basically 3 tablespoons of trail mix. When people go to a bar, they expect the minimum of basic bar food - fries, pizza, hot pretzels and maybe a burger. This would make this place complete. If you have no capability of a full kitchen, partner with a food truck to create synergy.
Either way, we will definitely come back again to visit and try...
Read moreThis place is so cool. While it may be oversold as a Pirate themed bar (and to be fair, my definition of a "theme bar" carries much higher standards than most), this is an absolute gem of a new addition to the downtown Vegas Arts District.
I came here with some friends on a Saturday night and the place was packed. We were able to get a corner table fairly quickly. The menu has all the classics as well as some fun tropical cocktails with unusual ingredients and combinations. I normally don't do fancy pants drinks, but the server raved about their "Get It Kraken" cocktail so I ordered that (it is DELICIOUS).
The drinks are large and strong, and fairly priced for Las Vegas: expect $15 - $18 per cocktail before tip. This isn't a touristy place and is more for locals, but visitors would absolutely be welcomed with open arms. They are open seven days a week from mid-afternoon until midnight, and they stay open until 1 am on Friday and Saturday nights!
They try to bill themselves as a "dive bar," but it's really not. There's a fun pirate and salty dog theme that carries the nautical inspirations just far enough without crossing the line into desperate cheesiness. The atmosphere is lively but relaxed. This is a place to have fun, not one where you have to dress to impress.
If you're bar hopping or want a unique place to grab a drink, I highly recommend Stray Pirate! Great staff, fun drinks, ridiculously enjoyable theme decor makes for a...
