This restaurant is kind of a persona. It looks so elegant clean and upscale. Plus I'm pretty sure it's a landmark. But when you look closely to everything from the floors to the walls to the mirrors to the tables to the chairs to the menus every thing is disgustingly filthy. I am the most genuine and honest person. I I also am a huge detailed person. Thats why they literally have it almost pitch Black in there you cannot see anything you have to use your flashlight on your phone to read the menu. I was waiting for the food and my husband was talking to me and his eyes were following something so I turned around and see what it is behind me on the wall....... I am not sure how to make a scene, nor am I sure how to tell everyone that there's a roach on the wall. So with dignity intact we respectfully took our leave. I attempted to tell a man that was in a suit the situation and he was very rude and I'm extremely flabbergasted by that I'm trying to help you your restaurant and you yell at me and tell me that you're showing me dramatic and it promises a piece of food or something because it's so dark. Can I explain that I know it's moving on the wall it's right there he wouldn't even look who's getting angry because there were people in line behind me trying to come in and sit down but I wanted to tell him so they can get it or the idea is amazing the the thought that you have in your mind about it is amazing it really is it is but when you go keep your eyes peeled and if it's past I don't know 2:00 p.m. don't Leave the flashlight! It gets dark around like 4:00pm since daylight savings outside as well as inside this restaurant. Besides the ignorance of the manager the staff the waitresses & waiters even the Hostesses we're very welcoming and warming they have such great customer service not the manager but the others do and it makes you feel bad that you don't want to eat your Prime Rib with a macaroni Roach & cheese. Besides that it was excellent. Oh yeah I forgot that part so if you ask your waiter exactly where certain things come from specific items because it presents itself as a upper class restaurant that's why the prices are gouging a little because it's supposed to be high quality items vegetables everything supposed to be fresher you know what I mean I won't say the waiter obviously but next time you go just ask right ask them where the vegetables came out of? Ask them how they make the pies? Maximo they make the potato salad? How they make anything at all besides the grill guys I'm sure you know cooking meat but the meat is not fresh either they keep it in kind of liquid or something and put water on it before they cook it to make it softer. They're just questions that I asked when I was there next time ask questions five star prices with 80% if not more of everything coming out of the can or bag or box. . This is in no way supposed to be disrespectful or rude it is simply stating exactly what happened during my visit to Vegas...
Read moreWe both got the Prime Rib Special. It was $16.95. The meat was excellent. It was a huge piece and seasoned perfectly. The baked potato was cooked to perfection. The side vegetables were clearly frozen but cooked nicely. Not soggy. Our waitress, Linda, was very friendly but not at all attentive. There was a larger group next to us and she catered to them like they were the only ones there. My son ordered an iced tea and I had water and a Brandy Alexander. The Brandy Alexander was delicious! The iced tea ended up to $5.00. She NEVER came back and refilled the drinks. She never came back to see if we needed anything else BUT she did recite the names of the customers next to us (why was she reciting their names?...) and they were there celebrating some even so she brought out a cake and served it for them while we desperately tried to get her attention. Every time she helped the table next to us she disappeared into the back room not even glancing our way. We waited, and waited, and waited and finally I caught her eye after waving her down. No apologies from her, and she didn't ask us if we wanted dessert. After trying to explain that we never got any 2nd servings of our drinks she actually offered them IN A TO GO CUP!!!! She was friendly (when we actually got to talk to her) but she ignored us. Then at the register the cashier/hostess told us to step aside while she helped the customers BEHIND us and we were clearly there first in line to pay.
In conclusion, the food was great but our...
Read moreLocated in the historic, El Cortez Casino, this was the only place we could get a reservation on a Sunday evening. We should have planned more than a few hours in advance. Overall, it was a great experience. The decor is not as stuffy as some steak places on the strip. This was a much more family restaurant feel. But not family restaurant prices though! When I got there, the original Ocean’s 11 was playing on this televisions. It felt right to be watching Frank, Dean, Sammy, and the gang steal from the casinos. Next to the giant photo of Bugsy Siegel the restaurant’s namesake, it clearly set a retro vibe.
So naturally , I ordered the NY strip steak and it was significant. The portion was large and cooked well. Actually, I got mine medium, and it was cooked to what I expected, therefore it was cooked well. There were potatoes as a side that were a cross between mashed and steamed, chunky potatoes. They called them Delmonico style. I’ve been to Delmonico’s, but don’t remember their potatoes.
The El Cortez is old school casino. Some lifelong gamblers were there especially the grizzled old men playing the ponies. It’s a budget experience. But it’s also the only casino that I’ve actually won money at. I had success on the slots and the tables. It’s hard to find blackjack that’s under $25 minimum bet! At least the Cortez had a $10 table. Which was great. And when I won, I...
