Not great, on many levels. Starting with the store concept itself - I'm not a big fan of the self-serve kiosk situation. Fine if I'm at a fast food place, like Cafe Zupas. But if I walk inside, and I'm about to pay maybe $8 to $10 or more for a freaking ice cream cone - can I maybe get some better personalized service??? And while we're on the subject of the self-serve kiosk - it wasn't even up to date! There were specials that were not orderable from the kiosk. I asked the attendant working there what button to push to get the special, and she told me I had to put it in manually - cone flavor, then ice cream, then spread, then toppings...are you kidding me!?! I've built excel sheets to track complicated business financials in faster time than it took me to put in my order. Then the ice cream. As mentioned by other reviewers - this is McDonald's level soft-serve ice cream. Nothing to write home about. Actually kind of crappy, and not very good variety. Then the toppings. Ok, nothing really bad about those - as far as taste and variety. But the mess. Oh, the mess. Just basically get ready to ruin the table you're eating at, the floor underneath of it, all of your clothes and shoes - everything. It's completely impossible to eat one of their signature crispy cones without making your immediate area look like a third world nation war zone! Ok, and the cone. Again, as mentioned in other reviews, it's pretty much just an over-fried donut in a cone shape. Not really very good at all - and even worse...it was doughy. It wasn't crispy! Isn't that literally the name?!? And then the price. $10 + dollars (with tax and tip) for an ice cream cone...it had better be the best ice cream I have literally ever had...and it's simply not even close. Wendy's Frosty's are better. The only reason this review is getting 2 stars instead of 1 is because of the person working there. They were very nice and helpful, and none of these issues are their fault. Great employees, but extremely bad business concept and execution. Can't wait for this place to go out of business, and see what comes...
Read moreDon’t get me wrong… we thought the crispy cones were delicious, however - as my daughter said “I don’t think they thought through their revolution far enough”. They have a saying on their wall that says something like “Revolutionizing the soft serve cone”. The reason we say this and that I’m not giving them as many stars is because a fun afternoon trip turned into a bit of a disaster. I told them when we ordered that we’d be traveling home with one of our cones. The problem is that they’re putting soft serve into a hot cone and then putting it all into a very tiny cup - the size of a disposable Dixie bathroom paper cup. The ice cream melts really fast and fills the cup and then starts to overflow. I asked them for a water cup but they said they hadn’t received their order for cups yet. Guess what? There’s this place called Walmart where you can go buy stuff like that. 😅 I had to run over to Twisted Sugar who was nice enough to give me one of their cups. By the time I got home my kids and I were covered in melted ice cream and I had to wash my pants, the inside of the car, and my sidewalk of melted ice cream. Go enjoy some ice cream but don’t expect to be able to take it to go. At least not for now. As a side note, sizes and amount of toppings were pretty inconsistent. I understand they’re new - I’m just noting this hoping that the establishment can work on fixing...
Read moreThe concept of crunchy cone is great, the execution could use some work. With that being said, on a Monday night this place seems like the place to be! Very family friendly. There are tables inside, and outside to enjoy the weather now that it’s finally cooling down. You check out the menu on the wall and then it’s self order. They have two tablets so two sets of people/or families can order at the same time. You pay there as well and it’s pretty self explanatory. The menu on the tablet shows you all the options you can choose from. As to why I say the execution didn’t quite meet the mark is the cone. The cone is a dough that is baked into the small cone shape. I do have to say the serving is the perfect size. But back to the question at hand. Why doesn’t this exactly work? I think it’s because the cone comes in a very small cup. They serve the cone with ice cream while it’s hot which is great, but the cup doesn’t give you the easiest access to the cone. As you can imagine there is melted ice cream at the bottom. The cup gives very little room for you to bite the cone without being messy. I feel if they had a cup or a paper (like waffle cones have at the point) the ice cream and cone would be easier to eat with less mess and you can enjoy the two together, thus a CRUNCHY CONE!
But overall it’s a cute and tasty dessert and in a...
