I have ordered baby back ribs several times from Morfia's and have eaten here quite frequently. In terms of food quality, the ribs have been exceptional on a few occasions, good on others, and downright horrendous and not edible this last time.
The staff at Morfia's is very friendly and gives you a true southern type atmosphere. They are kind and understanding.
Again, like I stated above, sometimes when I went here the food was exceptional, while other times it was the opposite. I would say 4-6 months ago when I first ate here the ribs were best. As time has gone on the quality has gone down significantly. They now load barbecue sauce onto the meat to cover up any issues in terms of meat quality. I wonder if they have changed vendors or kitchen staff? The past few times I have eaten here the food has been sub-optimal but I keep coming back hoping it will be different the next time, it hasn't unfortunately.
Yesterday I ordered a full rack of baby back ribs. The ribs were entirely inedible and I had to throw them away. It was some of the chewiest & grittiest ribs I have ever eaten. Typically the only way this occurs is if you cook them on the wrong temperature. I am unsure of why this would be happening.
I was hoping for a refund but was told that the manager would call. The manager never called. I tried back again today and they pushed me off saying to come by in person and explain the situation. I know this will end up in them saying they can't refund or issue any credits so I am not going to add 30 minutes traffic to visit the restaurant.
I would have appreciated a refund and or credit for the food that I had to throw away or a call from the manager when I was told this would be done. If you eat here the food might be great or it might not.... it is like playing blackjack.
Part of running a successful restaurant is managing the consistency of both food and customer service and I am sad to say I don't plan on returning as a customer here. They have lost a...
Read moreThis is the best place for brisket EVER. It melts in your mouth. It's meat candy. The BBQ sauce is out of this world delicious. My favorite dish to get is the sliced meat dinner with a side of collard greens and baked beans. Comes with a perfectly sweet and salty piece of soft cornbread. I'm writing this review as I'm eating this dinner because I want to make sure I share this amazingness with the world before I go into a happy food coma. Also, This is my second time here. I purposely ordered the same dish to make sure I wasn't romantisizing (sp?) the deliciousness of the brisket after the first try. I wasn't . Actually, it's even better in real life than in your memory. So always come back for more, you won't be disappointed. Oh- They have soo many deserts to pick from as well! Baklava cheesecake, chocolate German cake, blueberry cobbler, Apple Pie, tiramisu, lemon pie, chocolate pie... All homemade. If you drive by this place in the morning you will smell them smoking the meat. And you too will salivate. Happy eating! Ps: the Brisket might be the best, mouth watering, tender and juicy meat on the planet. The way it falls apart, it's texture, is mind bendingly perfect. Thank you God for brisket.
And PSS: these guys are so good we decided to book them for our vow renewal and they catered to 50 people, came on time and the food was hot and fresh, with no complications, and just the best attitudes on the planet, not to mentioned they worked with our budget and kept it there! Love...
Read moreToday is 7/04/23, the 4th of July and I went to Avy's Ribs on Lincoln blvd. in Marina Del Rey for the second time. My first time was this past Memorial Day. My first visit the food was almost perfect, for me the potato salad was terrible, so Avy's lost points there. But, the beef brisket was perfectly tender the way I love it and the pork ribs would have been perfect had they not been cut so short after the ends were cut-off. Other than that they were nice and tender. Macaroni and cheese was OK, didn't try the beans. All in all, I was pleased enough to go back today for the second time, but my experience was completely the opposite. The black cook that was there my first time no longer works there and the food was terrible. Both the beef brisket and the pork ribs were terrible; chewing them were like chewing shoe leather, very tough and chewy and I was given a small portion unlike my first time going there, but still charged $28.00, not worth it. I do not recommend going there now; I was very disappointed. I do not recommend Avy's; I will never go...
