I checked out this spot last Saturday for dinner. We got there pretty early around 5 PM and we were seated right away. The place is really small, and I don’t think they take reservations, but they do have a waitlist.
We ordered the crew set, which is meant for three people, and it came with all the banchan from the companion’s list. Everything was flavorful. I get why people mention the clams being tiny after cooking, but that’s just how clams are. If that’s a concern, you can always order à la carte.
Since we were a party of three, we added another pancake and cheese corn. Just a heads up, you have to pay for extra banchan, unlike some regular K-BBQ spots where it’s unlimited. We also tried the sea eel. It was good, but I wasn’t blown away, and honestly, the menu felt a bit limited.
This place was hyped up a lot on IG, but for me, it didn’t quite live up to that. The staff were great and really attentive and ready to help at any moment. One tip: they provide a single glove, so use it to handle the burning hot shells and avoid burning your skin!
Overall, it’s a little too far for me so I’d probably choose another spot for this kind of meal...
Read moreWent on a Saturday around 5pm with my partner for our anniversary. No wait. It was pretty clean and decorated well. We got the Master set for $155. We went in with high hopes because of the high price tag. Overall, the set had good variety. It came with a wide variety of seafood and side dishes like corn cheese, steamed egg, shrimp tempura, and noodle soup at the end. The sides were decent for a set like this! We enjoyed the shrimp tempura and steamed eggs the most. The tteokbokki and noodle soup were not memorable and felt more like fillers to get you full, but that’s not uncommon in set menus.
Our only big problem was that the seafood wasn’t cooked properly. We started with some small clams, but several were raw when given to us to eat. The baby octopus towards the end of the meal was also not cooked enough. We spit them out for obvious reasons.
Good variety and sides but would work on the cooking. Since it’s on the pricey side and seafood is supposed to be the main dish, it should be super well executed. I don’t see us revisiting but hopefully you guys will fix the issue for...
Read moreQuick Summary Great food, great prices, and great service. I really enjoyed the Korean grilled clam style restaurant from traveling in Seoul and glad to see one here in Ktown. The seafood was fresh and delicious. Service was superb as our servers did all the cooking. We got lucky with free street parking but they have a parking lot in the back at an affordable rate. We chose to sit outside, which we liked more to minimize the smokiness
Food- 5 stars We ordered the crew set which was more than enough food for 2 people. All the seafood was so fresh and tasty. But I particularly liked the clams and marinated baby octopus (I've never had octopus so soft and fresh!).
With most Korean restaurants, the portions are pretty large, and it's pretty easy to overeat.
Service- 5 stars Our servers were fantastic. Very attentitve without being overbearing. They cooked everything and made recommendations on how to eat everything as well.
Bottom Line Excellent food, prices, service, and pretty easy parking. Burnin Shell was an awesome experience and I can't...
