Top-Tier Smashburger, Parking Unicorn, and Jalapeños on Request Double N Up – Hollywood | 4.5/5
I wasn’t in a rush to try this place. Another smashburger joint? Sure, fine. I’ve had plenty, and they’re usually solid but rarely life-changing. But after seeing it pop up a few times on Instagram (thank you, influencer wormhole), I finally pulled the trigger. And I’m glad I did. Double N Up is tucked behind Trejo’s Donuts in a little Hollywood strip mall. Surprisingly, parking was super easy—even on a Saturday around 1 p.m. That alone is a win. The place is small, just two guys running the counter next to a Subway. Menu’s short: a few burgers, a Philly-style option, fries, and drinks. Simple and focused. I ordered the double smash combo with Cajun fries and jalapeños. Total was $19.75. Not cheap, but pretty standard for a small, quality burger shop in LA. The burger? Amazing. Legit one of the top two smashburgers I’ve had. Crispy edges, juicy center, perfect seasoning. I expected it to be good. I didn’t expect it to surprise me. The portion was what you’d expect for a smashburger—not huge—but the fries helped round it out. Big serving, seasoned well, and the Cajun spice gave it a nice kick. If you’ve got a big appetite, you might want to throw in an extra item. I left full, but not stuffed. Would I go back? Definitely. For under $20, you get a killer burger, fries, and a drink. That’s the sweet spot. I’ve got other go-to spots nearby, like Chick-N-Burger, which gives you a bit more food for a few bucks less. But taste-wise? Double N Up takes the win. Great flavor, easy parking, cool staff, and no wasted fluff. Highly...

I was on my way to a different spot, but the line was long. I passed by Double N Up and decided it would be fun to give them a try.
They have a small menu, which, in my opinion, is never a bad thing. It usually means they focus on mastering a few items, and that seems to be the case here.
I tried the double Philly, a Philly Cheesesteak inspired sandwich with ribeye beef, mushrooms, cheese, and onions. It was awesome! Packed full of experyly grilled flavors piled high on a toasted hamburger bun. There was so much in the bun that I lost some of the fillings when I picked it up.
It was filling, tasty, and fresh. I'd have ordered fries, but I'm trying to lower my average meal calorie intake. The sandwich by itself was quite filling.
They are located in a small strip mall with a lot of other restaurants, so parking seems like it can be tricky. But it's okay because there is lots of easy street parking right on Highland.
The storefront is small and cozy. There are some bar counter seats inside and a nice patio area outside. The crew was friendly and helpful. I'd certainly eat here again. I'd love to come back for the...

Double N Up is a very lowkey and unassuming burger spot just off Santa Monica Blvd in Hollywood. There is some counter seating inside and a couple tables outside of it, but it's a small location and likely best to utilize for takeout.
Regardless, I absolutely LOVE their offerings. In addition to some good ol' smash burgers (which you can also elect to get with jalapeños for added heat), there's also chicken and steak Philly options that I found so juicy and flavorful. The smash burger also hit just right, perfectly prepared with great tenderness, juiciness, flavor and texture. I love the house sauce on it and like I said, you can add the jalapeños, which I personally enjoy the added heat from.
You can also see them preparing your order while inside the intimate but clean indoor space, which is done very promptly and efficiently following the taking of your order.
In a city like LA that is FULL of overrated burger spots, I personally find this one reasonably priced, delicious, and well...
