Small, minimal sandwich stand appearing like a mirage on Santa Monica Blvd. A single walk-up window with a short menu handwritten on cardboard. Windows on 2 other sides providing every angle of a smoothly-operated kitchen: bread buttered and prepared with cheese on one table, a centered stove and griddle setup where scrambled eggs are tenderly folded on one burner while bacon sizzles on another. On the griddle, the bread is grilled to perfection (cheese melting into it like a dream) while the sandwich is built with care: bacon, egg, avocado, bread lovingly placed on top before being turned over one last time to evenly warm every ingredient. The sandwich itself is cheesy, buttery heaven. A light garlic flavor I didn’t expect, the eggs soft and perfect, great bacon. Oh, and the spicy dipping sauce adding smoke like a rug that ties the room together acting as the flawless final touch on the kind of sandwich that reminds you of home, of simpler times. Don’t miss this understated little restaurant with a great backstory (check out the piece on them in Eater LA from last week), but I don’t think I need to say that. Soon, the line to order will be so long on Saturday and Sunday mornings, you wouldn’t be able to miss it if you tried.

If you're looking for a slice of home cooking in Hollywood, look no further than Calabama's bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit. This sandwich absolutely blew me away! The balance of flavors and textures was pure perfection. The buttery, substantial biscuit held up a golden ratio of bacon, egg, and cheese like a pro. And let’s talk about the eggs—wow. These were, without question, the best I’ve ever had. Cooked to perfection and seasoned flawlessly, they elevated the whole experience. Of course, I’d be remiss not to mention the star that ties it all together: the tangy dipping sauce. I saved the last few drops to grace some of my other humble foods later, but let’s be honest—its true home is drizzled on Calabama’s biscuit sandwich. I noticed there aren’t many pictures of this biscuit-y masterpiece on Google yet, so I’m adding mine for consideration... It’s serious, you guys. Calabama nailed it with this sandwich, and I can’t wait to come back for more!

Open shirt guy is super cool and people need to chill! His chest is a work of art. Besides he is sweet and efficient and habla Español! Live and let live people! I had the mix and match biscuit which was good! Bacon, cheese, egg! The coffee wasn’t so good and too little oat milk. C’est la vie I guess. The owner is a really cool lady from the South. She reminded me of my beloved band Automatic. I automatically liked her. I wondered if they get cabin fever in there because it’s like living a daily Das Boot. It’s a dinky restaurant. The open shirt guy is so sweet I’m sure it’s always fine. Parking available in a small lot or meter parking too.

Amazing food in a cute little spot! Always enjoy myself here.

I do wanna comment on an earlier review I saw by someone named Gengis Don who claimed racial profiling. I was unfortunate enough to watch this guy act a donkey towards the staff. After loitering on their patio for awhile he was reminded that it was for customers only. Said no problem and left. Shortly after he returns and AGGRESSIVELY beats on the window of the business demanding they open it. Once opened he began to rudely interact with the owner over being told patio was for customers. There was no profiling here. This man got his ego hurt bc a woman reminded him how to abide by the rules of a business and is now trying to disparage this business. 10/10 customer service here every time I visit and this place is clearly a safe space for a...
