One of the worst moving experiences I've ever had.

I moved from a 1200 sq ft 2bed apt to another 2-bed unit in the same building. I packed all the small items myself and only needed help with large furniture like a bed, sofa, desk, and a small table. I requested 3 movers instead of 2 to make it easier. I don't own a lot--just lots of clothes.

Here's what went wrong: Cash demands & surprise fees. After 5PM the rate jumped to $190/hour. And they asking for Cash.

Took over 5 hours and still didn't finish. Despite almost everything being packed, they couldn't even move basic furniture in time. They didn't even move my IKEA shoe cabinet from old unit, so I had to do it myself. They started to move couch and desk when its over 4hrs.

Requesting for food & water. They asked for snacks and drinks which is fine for me but they will charge you every minute. For example if you spend their time 5hrs 11mins they will charge you the 11mins :) which was so funny.

Complaining about tips. Even without finishing the job, they pressured me for over 20% tip and kept asking for cash, while complaining the whole time.

Careless moving. Boxes labeled "kitchen" ended up in the closet, and "room" boxes in the bathroom. They left stuff in the middle of the floor and got annoyed when I asked them to place items properly. Also They handled the move carelessly and caused a crack in the glass on my desk.

If you love getting ripped off, this the moving company for you. I was moving less than a mile from my previous apartment. I had originally talked about 2 movers and a small truck with Kate. The day before moving, she emailed me to say that if I hired 3 guys, it would take the same amount of time and be done faster, staying within the 3 hour minimum. She was 'sure' it wouldn't go over 3 hours. Cut to moving day. I had all items boxed, wrapped and just need to wrap sofas and 1 tv. Three Russian guys came early. It took 3 hours to leave my house. Why? I have no clue. Down the street at my new place, another 2.5 hours. They would be gone for periods of time. What can you do in this situation? Nothing. Because all of your belongings are in their possession and you are at their mercy. If moving isn't stressful enough, two of the men were in a LOUD heated screaming match in the hallway at least 3 times that they brought up a load. Several items are broken. One of the guys stood looking me right in the face, a few inches in front of me, and dropped a sound bar box. Sick joke to see if a blind girl would react? One of the guys seemed nice. No 'hello, my name is'. In the end, whatever was on the miniscule font of a contract, I signed it. There was no time to find a laptop, connect to internet , and make it accessible, although I mentioned my vision impairment when I first booked. I used mario moving on 1/31/18 I spoke with Lea for arrangements to move my senior mom. She was moving from a 500 square foot 1 bedroom apt. 1 bed, 1 frig, 1 love seat, 2 chairs, 2 tv's, boxes. Which should take 3 hours max since we already packed and boxed everything. Mario's estimate is 3-5 hrs. The rates are so reasonable because they send 2 very young and inexperienced movers who took 9hr 40 mins!!! To move such a small amount of belongings. Not to mention on the way to the new apartment the 2 movers went to lunch and did not notify us. We waited 45 minutes before they answered my text stating they went to lunch and should have told me. I notified Lea and told her I am not paying for their lunch hour. Lea only credit me $15.00 which we should have been credit more for the hourly rate is $75.00 cash. Mario moving is cheap, however in order to make more money they take triple the time to move. This is not the first time I have hired a moving company so I am Aware of how long it takes to move.
