Saturday March 23rd 10:00 a.m. I went to an appointment at Metropolis Dermatology Downtown L.A. I will try to make this brief as just the thought of the experience brings me much anxiety. FYI: the dermatologist office is located on the 10th floor. The office does not have parking for their patients. Shame. You have to sign in at the lobby with the doorman. He inquired where I was going and I told him. He directed me to the elevator. He said 10th floor. I proceeded to get in the elevator push for the 10th floor the elevator went up and stopped on the 10th floor. The door didn't open. I waited and waited and waited the door still didn't open, needless to say I waited more . My heart was pounding. I probably waited close to 30 seconds to 45 seconds I contemplated heading to help button but then I had to debate was it me, was I “tripping” then all the sudden the elevator went up to the 11th floor stopped still the door didn't open, once again it stayed there for about another 45 seconds. I wanted to scream, I reached to hit the help button but I didn't want an alarm to go off, I didn't want to make a big scene and I didn't want to have a heart attack so then I hit the lobby button the elevator began to descend when got to the lobby the doors opened. I walked back out to the lobby area to find 2 elevator guys standing there talking. I told him the door didn't open on the 10th floor. He said, what do you mean? I said it didn't open. Then he replied that he set it for the 10th floor. I said well the door didn't open….we went back and forth he let me know that he controlled the elevator. I said then why didn't you open it and he told me that he would set it to open this time. I said I'm not going back up he offered to ride with me. Eventually I agreed and he did right back up with me and the elevator opened I was shaking. Finally I sign into the Dermatology office . As I'm waiting to be seen I asked if I could use the restroom the lady behind the counter proceeds to give me a card about the size of a business card and says I need to scan this in the elevator because the bathroom is on the 11th floor. I said oh no. I can't go back in the elevator. I explained that i was just stranded in the elevator. I came here so there you go there was no bathroom to be used on that floor you would have to go up to the 11th floor and risk being in the elevator that may not open I wasn't going to take that chance I would like to say my appointment with Dr Higgins was pleasant she was caring and knowledgeable she apologized for the bathroom situation, however, I would not and could not recommend anyone go to this office for any kind of treatment you may be stuck in an elevator, have no access to a restroom and an $18,00...
Read moreDr Yim has been treating me for small areas of alopecia prior to an incident that resulted in multiple traumatic injuries requiring over two months of hospitalizations and nine surgeries. During the end of my stay at the hospital, I started experiencing rapid hair loss (not alopecia) due to the physical stress on my body from the long hospital stay and multiple surgeries, in addition to the emotional stress trying to process the traumatic injuries I had sustained. When I was discharged, most of my hair had been shaved off and fallen out, my brows and eye lashes were also gone. I was tired of dealing with my hair issues so I shaved it all off, immediately regretting it wondering whether my hair would even grow back. The most difficult step in asking for help is picking up the phone to call the doctor’s office and leaving the house to get to the appointment. As a woman, losing your hair is like losing your identity. I couldn’t wait any longer to ask for help. Dr Yim was aware of what had happened to me and the injuries I had sustained and made me feel comfortable and was so supportive. I feel that it is emotionally difficult for a lot of women who experience hair loss for whatever reason to take that first step and ask for help. Dr Yim is a great listener who truly understands how women can find it hard to reach out and make that call. Dr. Yim also offered video appointments which helped me start a conversation about my hair loss and it helped me build a trusting relationship with her. She diagnosed me with Telogen Effluvium and explained its symptoms, causes and treatment. Dr. Yim immediately put a treatment plan in place. Since being diagnosed with Telogen Effluvium, and being on her treatment plan, the hair on my head started growing back and I now have a full set of eyebrows and eyelashes. Dr. Yim is truly an expert in this field and the personalized treatment plan she put together for me resulted in incredible results. It was amazing to see how much hair has grown since my first appointment and follow up in six weeks! I am on month three and my hair continues to grow. Dr Yim also advised that my hair will grow in platinum/silver but my regular hair color will start growing back and she is right again - my regular hair is growing back and the platinum/silver hair is growing out. I would recommend Dr Yim to anyone who is experiencing hair loss, especially as a woman. Dr Yim is a professional yet she is very thoughtful and takes a very personal approach when caring for or coming up with a treatment plan for each of her patients. I highly recommend Dr. Yim at Metropolis...
Read moreI'm finally ready to write a real review. So I lived in Korea for 8 years and had access to some of the best dermatologists and aestheticians. I moved here in 2019 and since then, I could not find the right dermatologist to save my life. I tried several doctors and many many medical spas. They couldn't correctly "diagnose" my skin and I ended up spending too much money on procedures that didn't work or things that were too harsh on Asian skin. After months of researching, I found Dr. Wang and my skin right now looks better than ever! I first went in for consultation and botox in February. First of all, let's talk about Dr. Wang's credentials. He is QUALIFIED and on top of that, he really listens to your skin care history, routine and your primary concerns. He does not push you to have expensive procedures done. He also is very realistic about the outcome and sets your expectations. If you want more visible outcome/improvements, then you have to deal with more pain. So my initial consultation went so well that I knew I found the right doctor. He also injected just the right amount of botox in between my eyebrows. I went back since then for Hollywood Spectra and Lutronic Ultra. Lutronic Ultra makes your face look red and "sandy" for about a week but this was the right resurfacing laser for me. Friends and family ask me all the time what I did to my face. My face glows and I can actually just use sunscreen without foundation and I still have a more "clear" skin. Hollywood Spectra is good for overall rejuvenation but it doesn't give you that visible improvement. It's subtle and I can tell but it's not as noticeable to others. Ok, on top of all this, I get 30 min facials twice/month with Alma. She is by far one of the best aestheticians I have met (and I have met many). She really knows what products to use and how to make quick improvements in just 30 minutes. I frequently get these tiny whiteheads on my face and she does the best extractions and calming/moisturizing masks that I walk about every time with a glow. I once did a one hour facial and even a stranger at a restaurant commented on my skin! Metropolis Dermatology literally saved my skin. I have been so impressed that I even took my boyfriend for his dark spot. And Dr. Wang did a great job treating him too. And last but last least, thank you for Korina (front desk) for being so friendly and helpful during my visit with...
