I DINED AT LA PIAZZA SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO 12/17/22
Never in my life have I experienced such a rude dining experience. The service was less than subpar. In fact, I've had better customer service at the DMV.
I booked a reservation for a party of 13. When I arrived to check in, I was told we would not be seated until all 13 members of my party arrived simultaneously. I was also told that if all members of my party did not arrive within minutes, my entire reservation would be canceled.
Upon arrival, the only reason we were allowed to be seated was because of my two handicapped family members. After we had been seated for a while, not one waiter bothered to ask if we wanted water (which we had to ask for). We also had to request bread that we were charged extra for.
However, the fun started well before this point. I booked my reservation online. A few days later, a staff member called and requested a $25 deposit. I thought, "Okay, this is standard procedure." After I made the deposit to secure my reservation, I was called within minutes of the first request, that I paid $25/per person at my table to secure my reservation which totaled to $330. I was told this would serve as a credit to be deducted from my total dining bill.
When we requested to speak with the manager, he was rude. He could care less that we were having a graduation party. The manager continuously pulled out new rules and policies that clearly were not applied to other customers. He kept hiding behind the perky hostess to do his dirty work.
The first lie he tried to sell us was that we would lose our non-refundable $300 deposit and have to leave the restaurant (By this time 9 out of 13 members were already seated). Our reservation was at 4:30pm (we were on time). We were seated closer to 5:00pm. Before we even ordered anything on the menu, the manager returned to ask the party if we could all "be out by 7:30pm because another reservation will be here." He interrupted our party so many times, it bordered harassment.
Oh, and just when I thought we were in a simulation because this couldn’t possibly be real, the bill was handed to us with a recommended 18% gratuity tip after the atrocity of customer service we were offered. I thought to myself, “This restaurant isn’t all that bad. At least they have a sense of humor.” When we reduced their tip to 10%, the waiter nearly burned a hole through the page with his facial expression. All the while, this is the same waiter who behaved in a manner that he did not want to take our order and barely spoke up when I asked for clarification on the menu.
I was also told over the phone that the restaurant would “do their best to secure a private dining room for my party.” Instead, we got a bunch of tiny tables stacked together in such a small uncomfortable location, it looked like preparation for a game of musical chairs. It was a tactical course just to get up and go to the bathroom. The highlight was walking by the private dining room I requested, to see that it was absolutely empty. Unless they were hosting an invisible party with invisible guests, I could not understand why the empty room was being held hostage.
Finally, the food was decent but it was hard to digest because my dining experience reeked of discrimination and personal bias. This restaurant and its incredibly rude staff had more red flags than an amusement park. If you have any sense at all, take your stilettos off and run the...
Read moreWe are so disappointed with LA piazza. We use to love this place and decided to bring family visiting from abroad on their forst night. We arrive at the Grove at 7:20pm and decided to head straight there to then enjoy the Grove. Order placed at 7:40pm. We wanted to be sitted outside but was told we couldn't so we were sat all alone, the 8 of us inside where it's more dark than outside. The lady taking the order was just unhappy. I point her the food we wanted, she repeated and left. We do understand prices going up as restaurant owner ourselves vut the food as to be good for a $40 pasta plate. So we were very excited to try their food again. The food took an hour to come out (people came after us and left before we got our food). Then they brought the wrong food for 2 people. So 6 of us were done eating that they still didn't get their food. Then they received it and it was really bad. One plate wasn't tough and the other half eaten because she was starving passed 9pm. We asked for the check right away and honestly didn't expect to be charge for the $40 pasta. When we complain the server said he will ask the manager that looked at us but didn't bother coming to talk to us cause you know, so much went wrong during our dinner and she was probably too ashamed to face us. She then told him to tell us that since one plate was half eaten they have to charge us🤣🤣🤣 the audacity after 2hrs wasted was beyond amazing. We were not even mad and yelling. Just huge disappointment from LA piazza. What a shame. I guess it's such a tourist trap that they don't care about regulars coming back. Now we know. After years of coming, that was our last try. It ruined our first night with family that fly 12hrs to come here and when we left at 9:30pm everything was obviously closed. Thank you guys for the awful dinner. And felt so bad for the old couple next to us when the husband said to the server it was their worst dinner ever. I truly hope they remind their staff of customer service for...
Read moreIf I could rate this place a zero I would. One of the worst pizza places I’ve ever eaten. We got there going on 9:00 Friday night 08/26/22. Two of the managers (a middle aged, blonde with short hair woman and a bearded, dark haired man with a dark blue suit) were tending to a man with a toddler and a baby in a stroller on seating. This was not an issue that took two managers to handle. The male manager kept looking at me and my 2 daughters, but never acknowledged us with a “mam we will be with you in a minute”. Another lady in a white pant suit did greet us with a smile and sat us in the back. Table was sticky, the server, tall, slim, blonde girl with pony tail did not introduce us and was in a total rush. Another manager kept passing us without ever, went to the table next to us, and never once spoke and asked us about our service. The only friendly person was the Hispanic young man who brought us the food. The pizza was awful and half cooked and extremely bland. We were visiting LA our last night and decided to go to the Grove. We noticed everything else was crowded. This was a total disappointment! My daughter had said as we were seated, she felt as if we were not being greeted nicely. We noticed a blonde male and female, and the mean mugged manager in the medium blue suit we’re looking at us as they were talking. We are very attractive people and never felt like we were being treated like peons until we went there.. I was not impressed!! We wasted $79.00 plus tip on 3 nasty pizzas which was my daughter’s idea, because it sure was not earned. As we were leaving the blonde girl and two managers were at the front as we exited and never said, “Thank you for coming or anything! Horrible horrible place!!! Awful service and food. We’re used to dining out at fine restaurants and the likes. We knew this was not a fine restaurant, but thought we would just have some plaza instead...
