Sincerely Syria (Hollywood) — Restaurant in Los Angeles

July 2024 This has been a regular spot for me for years, since before the name change, 'Hollywood Shawarma' was just a solid name, you knew what you were getting, it was the best; I dont get the change. The food was always good, the guys behind the counter always friendly and swift.

In the last two weeks they restaffed, the Old crew were solid, honest, friendly, and hard workers. I'm not sure about the new guys yet, I want to know why they restaffed... I'll re review if goes downhill

It's gone downhill so fast. They close early even when they still have meat on the kabob, they claim to run out of meat and ingredients when when you can clearly see that they're stocked. The service has gone to trash. And even when reminding them, when they do have ingredients, they leave things out. Also, cleanliness is an after thought now. One guy even sweat into a wrap once (that I saw) and he just wiped his brow and kept worked it in. It was gross.

From being my favorite late night spot in LA, to a place I now avoid. I'd say I miss you, but you sullied the memory of when it was good there. It seems so long ago.

Ara's Schawarma is actually better and more authentic with better service. Go there, they have standards.

Update: August 19, 2024 I decided to come in one last time just to see if wasn't too harsh and boy was that a mistake because I really did love the place.

So I finally manage to show up and they actually have beef. Shocker, I know. And I order my usual making sure to be specific as I ALWAYS, for the last 3 years always ordered my meal with (extra) hot sauce in it and I witness them ignore that request... So I politely ask if that was mine because that wasn't what I ordered... They hand over a container with a hot sauce in it... And I'm like that's not how I take it as one of the 'new' employees was there when I was there for a few weeks a made my order many times. The other dripping sweat (on the food most likely) guy tells me condescendingly that it's never been done that way, to which I replied that for the last 3 years that's exactly how I had it done at all hours. So he starts lecturing me and accusing me of lying, which is just wrong and I politely asked for a refund since they didn't inform me of this change and they were being jerks about it as I'm not a liar as this guy claimed. They refused my refund flatly and broke up my wrap to posthumously add the sauce i originally requested which just wrong on so many levels. The jerk also confirmed that the other guys were fired instead of moving to open newer locations.

So, I took my mangled wrap and ended up trashing it. This time I won't return again. They suck.

You were once great and I recommended your business to everyone I met for 3 years, that's completely over with. I'm just let down that something so good can go so bad so quickly, just like so many broken relationships. On a positive note, this breakup wasn't my fault.

You suck now Sincerely Syria! You lost a regular and I hope you lose more with your sub par service. You will...

I had an absolutely horrible experience at this restaurant. Every single person working there was unhelpful, short, and rude. They could clearly see I was frustrated and instead of offering any kind of solution to the order that they got wrong. They basically didn’t give a damn and were ridiculing me. Honestly, if you’re looking for shawarma, there are literally a thousand other places that will treat you better than this awful location.

I have never in my life been spoken to the way I was spoken to here, especially when I was the one actively trying to figure out a solution to the problem. The workers were not only unwilling to help, but their attitude was flat-out disgusting.

On top of that, their phone situation is a complete nightmare. I spent over an hour trying to get through, and none of their numbers worked. When someone finally did answer, they told me I had the wrong location even though I had specifically called the Hollywood number. Instead of redirecting me or giving me the correct info, they just hung up on me. No accountability, no help, nothing.

This place is absolutely awful. I can’t believe they get away with treating people like this. Do yourself a favor and go literally...

I live across the street from this place so I walk here at least 1-2x a week. The food is usually great and service pretty good as well. However, I decided to stop in before they closed just now at 245 am and it was pretty busy. I am highly disappointed at what I just witnessed. I watched the guy working the front doing cashier and wrapping/prepping the food walk around front with the filled garbage can and tie it up and walk it down the street to take it out with the same gloves he was wearing to cook the food. No big deal, I figure he will throw the glove out and change to new ones once he returns. He didn’t do that. He literally finished throwing the garbage in the dumpster and came back with the empty trash can and same greasy black gloves on, walks right back behind the counter and continues preparing food. Including mine. I was flabbergasted. I wanted to say something but I was scared to as there were a ton of intoxicated people around and hollywood can be problematic at night time. I did not eat the food and will not be going there again. Please talk to your workers about food safety. Disgusted and highly...
