The last straw was today. So, I love supporting local business and I discovered The Wood last year during covid19. I thought their prices were a bit high compared to other BBQ spots in the area, but I didn't mind just as long as it was worth it. I placed an order and my husband picked it up, but when I opened it I couldn't believe the extremely small sides for the price they charged, however; the food was really good. The meat is tender and the sides I got had a pretty good flavor. During the upcoming months, I continued to order but almost always had an issue when I did. Please know that this place hardly ever answers the phone, so you need to text your order (hope they get it) or go in person. The last time I ordered (before today) they forgot my macaroni and cheese and the owner told me next time I come, just tell them at the counter....no problem. I also saw some very "unfair" comments about the way the owner was doing business, so I sent him a DM to give him the heads up so he could make the correction. He never thanked me which I thought was extremely rude, being that the situation could have gotten bad very quick. Anyway, I continued to support. Today I ordered 2 dinners which totaled $60 (2 meats & 2 sides) and if you want cornbread, you need to pay for it separately. When my husband paid for the food, he informed the girl at the counter about the mac and cheese we didn't receive last time. The girl ignored him so he mentioned it again and she told him "that they are very careful with the orders"..in other words "you not getting anything". My husband didn't argue with her, instead he left. The food today was not good! My ribs were cold and my chicken had a pink in it!! I promise you... I will never support this business again. Everyone makes a choice where they want to spend their money...and in my opinion he is robbing the community. The Woods food have not been "up to standard". Like I said Never again. If I could make a claim through my bank to get my money...
Read moreA pretty solid bar nestled away from the noise and traffic. If you are looking for a club atmosphere, this is NOT it. This caters to the more chill clientele that wants to get a drink and talk to their friends without shouting.
They are located within a plaza of sorts so parking can be hard if you come on a busy day, but there are some street parking. There was also security at the door and they will card you, but once you're inside, it is easy going from there.
They have both bar space and booths for privacy. You order at the bar and then take it back to your table. They only had one bartender when I was there so be kind (and tip your bartender)! The drinks are a little expensive, but that's the LA tax, lol. Solid drinks tho.
For entertainment, they have a jukebox near the door and some games scattered around if you want to play! I heard that there is live music on the weekend too!
All in all, solid sleeper bar and I would...
Read moreI really want to love this place. It's divey, but nice, - cool decor and ambience. I used to come here with friends for a chill place to have a drink and a conversation. The only problem is with the conversation part - almost every time I've come by, mostly on weekdays, it's been pretty dead, with probably less than 10 patrons, but the DJ is playing the music so loud you have to yell to talk to the person next to you. It's like comically loud. No one is really listening to it or dancing or anything - everyone is trying to talk to their friends because it's a dive bar, not a concert or a rave. It's so weird. I go to a ton of shows and blast my eardrums to music I actually like... No way I want to go deaf meeting friends for drinks on a Tuesday. I might try going back sometime in case this changes because this place has so much potential to be my go-to spot, with just one...
