My partner and I live two blocks away and are both plant-based were so disappointed with our experience today.
We tried to go grocery shopping, and the music was so loud and aggressive that we could only buy a handful of snacks.
This is primarily a grocery store.
I associate plant based places with positivity, and hearing gangster rap or angry/aggressive at a high volume where I can’t even think where my nervous system feels totally charged, feels incongruent.
I was pretty polite and said that to one of the guys behind the counter and a different guy with a hat, turned around and said well, 'we’re not Whole Foods', and was pretty aggressive out of the gate for no reason.
I want you guys to succeed and I see vegan businesses fail all of the time because generally service is slow or lacking or there’s a disconnect. I was just trying to offer feedback that is someone who has the financial resources and the inclination to want to support local vegan business, you’ve made it very difficult to shop there. A family that walked in before us left.
Also, last week we went one hour before closing time, and there was a note on the door that they had to close early.
I would consider thinking about having more reliable, professional...
Read moreI really want to like this place as I live in the neighborhood and I understand that spots like this are important for vegans. As a non-vegan, I might not fully get it, but there are a few business aspects I feel need to be addressed:
The Employees: Every time I visit, there’s loud EDM music playing, and the staff, who should know better, seem to be half-heartedly handling the checkout process while distracted on their phones. I’m honestly surprised these employees still have their jobs. The Product Selection: I came in for basic tempeh or tofu, but they only seem to stock expensive, trendy vegan products. I even paid $4.59 for chickpeas the other day. It would be great if they offered more standard staples instead of just pricey niche items. While they don’t need to cater to non-vegans, offering some basics might attract a broader customer base. The Confusion: The place feels confusing—there’s a new painting on the front every month, and though it’s labeled as a pop-up, it’s clearly not. It just seems poorly managed, and no one really knows what this place is...
Read moreThis market/cafe has a great space with nice outdoor seating in the back and a wonderful selection of vegan products. I got a cappuccino and almond croissant for breakfast and came back later to get my spouse and myself sandwiches for lunch. The menu there didn’t match the one online but he was willing to make me a custom chikn sando with Tindle vegan chickn. So nice! Everything was so delicious I went back for the breakfast sandwich the following day. The grocery items did seem priced pretty high compared to what I’m used to but it’s a specialty shop so I understand. There were whole shelves of items marked 50% off, too. I was pleased to find some sweets I hadn’t seen anywhere before and enjoyed a nice chocolate turtle bar. They also sold Vego hazelnut chocolate, which I highly recommend (but didn’t buy since I had a (un)healthy supply I’d ordered online). Anyway, go check this place out if you’re...
