Koreatown has a new "best kept secret" and this review is aiming to change that. Chef Peter and team deserve all the success in the world for their hard work, attention to detail, and fantastic food at Yeon.
Let's start with the important part - the sushi is fresh, delicious, and so beautifully presented. Chef Peter is a wizard and an artist rolled into one and his creations are beautiful, tasty, magic. Everything we ordered, from our appetizers (agedashi tofu, cucumber salad) to our sushi rolls (shrimp tempura roll, California roll, rainbow roll) was exceptional. Be sure to ask Chef Peter about the pickled wasabi! We are definitely looking forward our next visit to try even more!
Now let's talk about the other star of the experience - Chef Peter himself. If there is a friendlier, funnier, more personable sushi chef in Los Angeles, I have yet to meet them! Sitting at the sushi bar with him was an absolute joy. Chef Peter not only enjoys sharing his skill and knowledge (he's fun to watch at work), his love of community and customer service is also on full display. He treats his customers like family and we enjoyed his warmth and humor as much as we did his sushi creations. Chef Peter truly made our first visit both enjoyable and memorable. You have to go meet him!
Finally, the restaurant itself is cute and cozy, tucked into the corner of a shopping plaza. The whole staff was friendly and attentive and made a great team. Their collective energy for and pride in what they do is palpable. If you are looking for a fun and tasty night out, you need to try Yeon. It's the...
Read moreJust had the most intimate and lovely Sunday lunch here. We went when they opened (11:30 AM) so we were only ones there. First time here so wanted to get various sashimi and nigiri before coming back for the omakase.
We got the Sea Bream, Albacore, and Tuna Toro sashimi and it was an absolute delight. Normally, I do like my sashimi unaccompanied with any garnish or sauce but I did not mind it here. The chef knows the fish he is working with and added light sauce and garnishes that worked with each different order. Then, we got the scallop nigiri that was fresh and so buttery it just melted in your mouth. The unagi nigiri was "aburi"ed properly, so it was a bit smokey but did not take away from the taste of the eel. We also enjoyed the salmon avocado rolls, which were huge; usually, sushi places give you 6 pieces of regular maki rolls, but they gave us 8 pieces.
The service was great. Granted we were the only one but liked that the server was efficient and polite and not too in your face. She kept her distance to not rush us but was available when we needed to order, refill our water glasses and...

I have been working in delivery for one year, but I have NEVER MEET such an attitude from a restaurant. I arrived to pick up my order at 8:30 pm and asked how long it would take for the order to be ready. They told me that in 10 minutes. And so they answered me 5 times. The chef began preparing the order at 10:10 pm. Thank you very much for ruining the evening! After this order, I was supposed to go on a date with my wife on Valentine's Day, but the restaurant kept lying to me and I didn't want to cancel the order because I thought it would be ready soon. In normal restaurants, if a person waits for an order for more than 10 minutes, he is usually offered water or at least a seat on a chair. Order I reply at 10:30. Thanks to the restaurant for preparing 3 cucumber rolls, because they are so hard and take so...
