Authentic Irish pub with a great deal of history, delicious food, and a properly poured pint of Guinness!

We stumbled into the pub (literally, as we just finished a 2-hour bike ride) looking for dinner and a couple of pints for the adults. We were seated immediately and waited on almost immediately as well. They took the proper time for a pint of Guinness which was deeply appreciated and excellent.

The atmosphere of the pub is excellent, and there's a great deal of the history on the walls. Patrick Dowd was one of the most important carpenters and builders in the early days of the island and his story is laid out beautifully in the memorabilia and photos on display in the pub.

The adults had the reuben and the fish sandwich, both of which were excellent. The children had the burger, and mac and cheese meals, both of which seemed to be delicious before the boys passed out from the exhaustion of biking around the...

2024 - Whitefish dip for appetizer was really good. Caesar salad was good. Fish and chips did not look like a previous review posted. The batter was “spongy” and had no beer flavor. It was so soft you couldn’t break off a piece with your fork. Hoping they can improve on this. Service was fair.

2025 - We returned because we recalled how tasty the whitefish dip was. However, they’ve made some changes, and as shown in the photos, it’s different from last year and, in our view, not quite as delicious. The crostinis they serve it with were on the extreme side of crunchy.

We spotted venison chili was featured as the weekly special, but unfortunately, it can only be ordered as part of a combo rather than individually (which is disappointing). It did sound appealing on a chilly October day. You can order the chowder individually which is also featured in the weekly special but...

A very pleasant experience. I love the fact that each place on the island has so much history behind it, including this pub. Very nice looking inside, I really appreciated the decor overall. The staff was very attentive and friendly and we did not need to wait very long for our food and drinks, everything came pretty fast. The food was very tasty ✨👌🏽 and the drinks were deliciously balanced in flavor and alcohol 🌹👌🏽. Both my husband and I had the Gaelic Chicken ( Stout and mushroom cream gravy, grilled asparagus, and barley spinach risotto) the pieces of chicken were huge! But surprisingly tender and juicy ☘️👌🏽. Our drinks, Cherry Mojito. This place was the last stop before leaving the island 🏝️ and it was worth it❤️👌🏽. Thank you for a nice last memory...
