House of Sweets — Restaurant in Madeira Beach

I wonder if this business is under new ownership? Raved about how amazing and friendly this place was, then went there on August 29 with friends in town, and found the staff (one behind candy counter and one behind ice cream counter) was 'perfunctory' at best. Certainly not friendly and I don't recall a smile from either of them. Kind of that ever present 'what do you want? Get it and get out attitude'. Still bought the usual pound of fudge (though I usually buy at least 2 pounds) a big bag of candy and two ice cream cones. There's usually a special if you buy a pound or two of fudge you get a piece or two free, but when I asked about that the clerk pointed to the price sheet posted in window. There are a couple other places to get candy and plenty of other John's Pass places to get ice cream. Will definitely try those other places...

Yummy treats! My family got the chocolate covered key lime pie (by mistake, it was supposed to be cheesecake, but was in the wrong spot), a chocolate covered rice krispie treat, and 2 different ice creams: chocolate peanut butter in a cup and coffeehouse cookies and cream in a waffle cone. The key lime was okay, the chocolate coating was very thick. The rice krispie treat was very tasty. Both ice creams were enjoyed. The only negatives were the rickety stairs/decking and while the young men working were doing their jobs they did not greet us or speak unless spoken to. Overall, would recommend just for the sheer amount of candy and chocolate confections options. Some more unusual items. Something sweet...

The Best Milk Chocolate Turtles EVER!!! The quality of the ingredients is really the best. You can taste it with every bite. I drive 2 hours to purchase a few dozen at a time. I eat them like a delicacy, lol. The owner is so sweet and I tell her every time that she has the best chocolates. And she packs them in cute white boxes with ribbon and gives me free samples which I eat as I drive away...Try the sea salt caramels and the milk chocolate toffees. You will not be disappointed. The toffee has a great buttery taste and is not too hard to the point that it gets stuck in your teeth. I'm going back this weekend to stock up with a...
