I’m not sure how it’s upholding it’s reputation with food and services like this! I asked for a cheese cake and the caramel sauce on the side. I was presented with a cheesecake still wrapped in saran wrap that sits in a pool of caramel sauce in the paper dish. How am i supposed to eat the cheesecake without getting everything sticky? Am I supposed to eat the saran wrap with the cake? Or is the staff just too good for unwrapping a cake? The cheesecake was underwhelming, i’d rather get one in starbucks.

The last time I came in I asked for an italian soda without ice. Staff could not fill the cup to full because they have to ā€œleave space for iceā€ even if I ordered without ice in the first place. Really tells you about the business.

I give one star for the decoration, and another star for existing. For service i would go to sencha, for food and drink I would go to lec’s, for vibes I’d rather be in a library...

Haven't been to restaurant in person--cannot rate atmosphere. We DOD order via Uber early afternoon 1st time after noticing 4.8/5.0 marking. O M Gosh. Food is great and we ordered double mochas(3) of them and 3 of their waffle like breakfast sandwiches, and 3 blueberry scones. You need to go eat here or order online. Excellent choice. Portion size is great. I CALLED the restaurant to Thank them again 1st time trying restaurant; Thanked them! Woman who answered was very polite, warm, kind over phone. Only boo boo we did..(oopsšŸ˜…šŸ˜)4th of July and several road closures so took extra time to get our order. FOOD WAS STILL VERY WARM AND WRAPPED tight...even our Mochas were very warm despite we are clear across town from location of restaurant. I will definitely go check out restaurant in person soon. PLEASE give them a try...worth it and pretty reasonable as for price...

Michelangelo's has been my favorite coffee shop in Madison for over ten years. It's warm and inviting and has a really great neighborhood/local feel. The coffee is fantastic as are the baked goods. The house-made chai has always been my favorite (not super sweet - so good!). The staff is so friendly and I see some of the same smiling faces today that I saw years ago, which is nice as a long-time customer. It's nice to frequently see the owner working here too. Today our breakfast sandwich was forgotten and we were kindly provided two sandwiches and a gift certificate for the inconvenience (and it was really no inconvenience at all). You won't find service like this, or coffee and food as good as this, at the chain spots. Thanks for being such a gem of a place, Michelangelo's! Cheers to supporting local businesses and enjoying great coffee for...

I’ve been to Michelangelo’s more times than I can count to be honest. Time and time again I love it. Finally writing a review because I decided to have the black bean burger and after one bite I realized I’ve never given this place the 5 stars it deserves. I’ve always felt comfortable here. It’s like a nice little recluse for me and seems to always have the most wonderful atmosphere. Consistently delicious food AND drinks. It seems to attract good people and has kind staff as well. Today I’m also having the espresso miel w/ oat milk. Not only does it smell amazing, it also tastes great. I never do take out from here. Always dine in! The atmosphere and art are a part of it. I cannot rave enough over how much I love this place. It will forever hold a special place in my heart :)

Michaelangelo's has been my favorite coffee shop / cafe in Madison for 10+ years, even though I live in a different state now. Whenever I visit Madison, or take friends to town, I always take them here as part of our little State St. tour. It's a perfect place to stop by and fuel up before going to see a show at the Overture Center, touring the Capitol, visiting any of the museums around the square or just because you happen to have business in town. The coffee is delicious, and they have incredible food - with lots of vegan options. I just had some curried chickpea soup that was just delightful. The spinach feta croissants are so moist and flavorful. Even a simple Italian soda is special there. A real gem and probably my favorite cafƩ, period.
