I’m a Wisconsinite! Born and raised! I’ve been to the Paul’s club several times before. I’m in my 30s now. I want to say, the last time I had a great experience at PC was on June 10, 2024. The bartender serving me that night was a younger woman, who provided great service. I’ve only thought great things about the Paul’s club since then. So, whenever I’m in the area that’s one of my first bar options to go to for a drink. Some weeks ago I went in and told the bartender that I wanted a beer but needed to use the bathroom first. I did. And while I was washing my hands, the bartender burst through the door, demanding that I leave. I was so confused and uncomfortable I left. Now, weeks to months later, I find myself in the area on a rainy day. I hop in for a beer or two before my ride arrives. When I go in the PC bar, there are 3 people. 2 men behind the bar and 1 lady sitting at the bar on her computer, clearly she’s an associate to the men behind the bar. I order a beer and the bartender takes my money. I recognize this bartender as the man who came in the bathroom to kick me out the last time I had been in. I asked the 2nd, short red headed man if I could speak to him about an experience I had there. He was clearly counting his register, so when his response was “no, now is not a good time” I respected that and asked “when a good time would be?” His response to this made it clear that he couldn’t care less. He shrugged disrespectfully and said “I don’t know, call in and make an appointment.” I asked him “are all of y’all A-holes?” He then stopped what he was doing and came over to me, finally. Scarily, he was turning red and asked me “what is your name?” I did not respond to this question, instead I asked again if he had time to speak about my experience I had in his business. I told him I was a customer and enjoyed the bar but I had only been met with negative energy and terrible service. His response to this was “then don’t come back.” I did not respond. I finished my beer and left. I actually attempted to order another beer. The same bartender said “ok.” Took my cup and told me to leave… I left. Paul’s Club really needs to do better. I’m so disgusted that this type of service STILL exists. I’m a server myself and it hurts so deeply because I can’t fathom ever treating any of my customers this way. Truly traumatized. I will never be returning. Thank you...
Read moreI don't write reviews unless I'm unusually impressed. I pick places carefully so I rarely have a bad experience. I see some reviews here picking at the all-u-can-eat fish fry, I can't imagine the amount of fish they have to try to get out to customers on Friday nights. If it comes out a little less than perfect I mean, come on.
I can't imagine anyone reasonable going to Paul's Club and not rating it 5 star. I've only gone at night though so maybe the atmosphere is different?
The crowd that comes at night is really friendly and social. There's all this stuff to do like pool, darts, pop-out tickets. A really nice open space. The bartenders have great attitudes and joke with us drinking or what not and that flows over to the customers. When I call to ask for something on the phone I've always been met with someone friendly when alot of times barkeeps at other places scoff at answering the phone. They make the drinks nice and strong.
I tried the Buffalo Boneless Wings and the Cajun Fries... both were delicious and better than some restaurants that supposedly specialize in chicken or fries.
I've lived here 17 years and graduated from UW Madison, so I've been to a large number of bars around here, and I can't say I've ever been to a bar that had the same combination of friendly crowds, staff, space and games, food, and the drinks. Price are also very fair.
I highly recommend Paul's Club. Whoever is currently managing the place, please, please don't ever...
Read more4 of us visited Sunday, 6/30, about 4:00pm. We were the ONLY customers. My friend was a little aggressive on sliding a glass back to the bartender. He failed, landed in the ice bin, broke. My friend was very apologetic, and sincerely felt really bad about it. Bartender was not having it. Attitude, rude and turned very unwelcoming. Making comments under his breathe, talking to the next employee that had come in with clear disgust. We can hear and see him. Again, my friend and the rest of us apologized profusely, after seeing how continually upset he was. It’s one thing if he was slammed and had to burn the ice, but as his only customers, stuff happens, move on. All of us are former bartenders, and one current bar owner. Had he had a positive attitude, we would have stayed, bought more drinks, and his tip would have made up in “sorrys” and made it worth his time, as previously mentioned, the only customers. Clearly doesn’t have the hospitality for mistakes, and personality to be...
