Stopped in for a late lunch, and ordered breakfast. We were seated right away. We waited almost ten minutes for a server to acknowledge us, which if we had the right menu we could have studied it and been ready to order. The server took our drink orders and proceeded to clear the table behind us before getting the menu we requested and giving us our drinks. He left us with the breakfast menu for about five minutes before returning to take our orders.
After placing our orders we headed to the bathroom to use the facility and wash our hands. The bathroom looked like a tornado hit it with used hand towels on the floor and one sink did not seem to produce water. The whole place could use a real good cleaning because the lights and items hanging on the walls were dusty.
When the food arrived we were happy to see it. My food was not hot, but not cold. My pancakes were a little over done, eggs tasted good and meats were all at room temp and salty. I am not sure why our food was not warmer but we ate it so we just get in our car and head home.
We got the bill and went to the register...this is where I realized I made a really bad choice of choosing here to eat. The person working the register, our server, the young lady busing tables and someone else were in a conversation about who is related to whom, how they are related and why it all seemed to be important. Once it became our time to check out I have never, in 57 years, ever been treated so poorly for asking legit questions...I had a gift card and wanted to use it...was talked down to about how it may not accept the gift card as the bill was more than the card, and then was told rudely about how to find the pin number off the back of the card...like I have never scratched off the area over the pin number... problem was doing it with finger nails is not as easy as some with a coin...I had no coin. My friend then used her credit card to cover the four dollars the card didn't cover and a tip. If I treated any of the people I work with like I was treated I would expect to be reprimanded or worse...I have no use for Cracker Barrel at all now...shame is, I have two more gift cards given as gifts...
Read moreMy first visit in over a year (was the only place nearby open for breakfast today-Easter). The experience was as bad as the last, disappointing at best. Had hoped they made some improvements or at the very least returned to their venue of few years ago. Not to be. The new chain “management” looks to be corporate stooges, definitely not country folk, surface appearances and results suggest to complete lack of any experience and knowledge of true country food. Which is the first of many tells it’s not about authenticity nor customer satisfaction, the dollar governs. Further tells, 2) Repackaged meals eliminating an item you want most, forcing you to have order it as an extra. 3) Portions smaller although slightly in hopes you don’t notice. 4) All the while holding the meal price the same as it was before all the reductions. 5) And if that isn’t enough, don’t ask for a substitution, it appears the wait staff are trained to pretend they weren’t asked to make the substitution, rather treat it as an addition and delivers both the original and the substitution request so the request can be added to the bill. I believe this to be the case nto just because of the waitress's facial and body language upon making the request, also because I overheard a discussion regarding a similar situation a few tables away, apparently, neither of us was given any notice this would happen, classic bait & switch. All Corporate Marketing Trickery, and the new management seem to have a bag full of them. The food, other than smaller portions, is a bit salty, other than that, taste is fairly good, but pretty much the same as any other corporate run place. Finally, the atmosphere hasn’t changed any either, still in the top ten noisiest and loudest restaurants I’ve ever visited, acoustics are terrible. Enjoy your meal, or not,...
Read moreI was a little put out to say the least. I had a new waitress I think since being short staffed she wasn't trained all the way and she was thrown on her own. I sat down and waited knowing they were short staffed and asked for coffee. The young girl I don't think ever worked resturant before brought my coffee and no silverware. I asked for silverware 3 times before I asked a lady the was cleaning and filling things on the table who nicely brought some to me. My coffee was just warm by this time but I drank it anyway. As I sat there waiting for my waitress to deal with others I noticed a lot of people roaming around and dirty tables around me. The manager was walking back and forth to the store area and instead of kicking in when needed to just wondering. Also I see two grown men one going in and out of the kitchen with something to drink maybe they were cooks I don't know. Finally I ordered then I had to wait on some of my breakfast food. The waitress was pleasant just very slow and forgetful I think she was overwhelmed and I really thought since the manager seen all of us sitting for an hour there would have come to help. I ordered breakfast and coffee and was there over an hour just to eat and leave. I was meeting my project manager to give him money for a job and told him I was stopping to eat and it would be about an hour to meet because I was only getting breakfast. If I would have known I would have been there that long I would have went to waffle house. Even when I asked for silverware to the clean up lady the guy in front of me said good luck with that smh. Definitely need some retraining at this location manager and employees. I usually go to Perrysburg Ohio and don't have problems and I try to get my same girl. Just very slow service but I got out after...
