Not impressed...
Service: 2/10 Made a reservation for 6pm for 6, 3 kids and 3 adults. Arrived on time and was seated right away, the restaurant was half full. They had a bartender, 2 servers, and I'm assuming the manager, working the floor. Our server was on the struggle bus... Took forever to take our drink order, which was only 2 drinks, a mixed drink and a bottled coors, 35 minutes after being seated. Took nearly 45 minutes before rolls were brought to us, an hour before we received our food. Our server was practically non-existent. The manager however was nice, she brought our kids crayons and multiple coloring pages. Best part was we avoided the automatic 20% gratuity being added to the bill, whichxis automatic with a party of 6 or more.
Food: My wife ordered the paradise burger, based on the burger guy review and said it was good, 7/10. I ordered the mushroom and onion swiss cheese burger and it was a 4/10. The burger meat had no flavor and the mushrooms were pretty cold. Their fresh cut fries were awesome! Kids ordered basic stuff. We also had an order of baby rack ribs which were very good, 8/10! The rolls we got were super good and soft, we also had an order of Bavarian pretzels that were really good.
It definitely has potential to be better. But with the price of their basic burger being $17 and the service lacking, I'm not sure we...
Read moreI had a great experience at Saba’s Bistro this past weekend. But for those that do not know, it is a little bit hidden. It’s tucked away in the Holiday Inn off of Reynold’s Road in Maumee, near the turnpike access. My friend and I arrived a little early, before they had opened. But they still invited us in and let us sit at the bar as they finished their preparations. Because of its location, I suspected they were not going to be many guests, but I was wrong. By the time we left at about 6 PM on a Saturday night, Saba’s was getting packed. People were showing up with reservations. The food was very good. My friend digged it the most. He likes fresh fish, and they have a great selection. The décor was very hip, not what I would have ever suspected in a Holiday Inn collocated restaurant. Our server, the bartender, was attentive, even though she was swamped with work. The owner even came to ask us how we were doing and if there was anything she could do better. Answer: no – everything was top notch. I recommend you check it out. Show up at 5 PM sharp to avoid the rush.
Since it is at a hotel, plenty of free parking and easy...
Read moreI truly love finding a wonderful place that evidently nowhere near enough people know about yet. As I understand it the restaurant, while located inside of the holiday inn, is an independent entity. When we first walked in and I saw that the place was mostly empty, I had a sense of uncertainty. But I have to say that the incredibly friendly people and the wonderful food won me over in short order. My wife had a steak and I had the chicken delicately breaded in some type of bourbon sauce that was recommended as the chef's signature effort.
They gave us large steak knives to go with the place setting, but my wife only needed a butter knife, and I didn't need anything more than my fork. The prices were actually quite modest for a typical hotel type restaurant.
And when I heard that they had "Crunchy Hippie" on tap, I knew I had found a new eatery. We were too full for dessert, but I am truly looking forward to going back again and finding out more about that part of the menu.
Upper end food in a casual atmosphere. I'm definitely anticipating...
