Sonny Donuts — Restaurant in McKinney

I stopped at Sonny Donuts around 11 a.m. on a recent weekday and was pleased to see they still had a nice selection of donuts remaining, and picked up a half dozen: a plain cake donut, a frosted cake donut, an old-fashioned glazed, plain glazed, a cronut, and a Spider-Man frosted donut for my toddler son.

The old-fashioned was my favorite of the bunch, nice and crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, with a pleasant level of sweetness. The cake donuts were all right- soft and fairly moist. I prefer a crunchy exterior, but so it goes. I tried the glazed and cronut, both were solid. Most importantly, my son loved the Spider-Man donut. While it was a little pricy, it was totally worth it to see his smile when I opened up the donut box and showed it to him.

What a fantastic place to eat donuts, get fresh coffee, and the sweetest customer service in a donut shop ever:-) the donuts are light and perfectly balanced the dough has consistency and is not just air. The glaze is not dripping off everything but is covered. I am originally from McKinney, and after reading the 1-star review here, I just wanted to say that I primarily visit my family off Meandering Way just so that I have a good excuse to get on a plane and fly all the way across the country just so I can get up early enough to make it in time before the donuts are gone.
