If you're looking for an authentic, immersive, and downright delicious Korean BBQ experience, look no further than Guy Kaku From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with the warm, inviting aroma of sizzling meats and the lively buzz of a restaurant that truly knows how to deliver an exceptional dining experience.
The ambiance strikes the perfect balance between modern and traditional. The sleek, contemporary design is complemented by subtle nods to Korean culture, creating a space that feels both trendy and rooted in heritage. The tables are equipped with state-of-the-art grills, and the ventilation system is top-notch—no need to worry about leaving smelling like smoke!
Where do I even begin? The menu is a carnivore's dream come true, offering a wide variety of premium cuts of meat, from melt-in-your-mouth galbi (marinated short ribs) to perfectly marbled samgyeopsal (pork belly). Each cut is expertly seasoned and prepared, allowing the natural flavors to shine. The banchan (side dishes) are equally impressive, with a rotating selection of kimchi, pickled vegetables, and other Korean staples that add a delightful contrast to the rich, savory meats.
What sets Guy Kaku apart is their commitment to quality. The ingredients are fresh, the portions are generous, and the presentation is impeccable. Whether you're a Korean BBQ novice or a seasoned pro, the staff is more than happy to guide you through the menu and even offer grilling tips to ensure your meat is cooked to perfection.
Speaking of the staff, the service here is nothing short of stellar. The team is attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about what they do. They go above and beyond to make sure your dining experience is seamless, whether it's refilling your banchan before you even ask or recommending the perfect dipping sauce to pair with your meat.
Guy Kaku also offers a selection of Korean beverages, from soju and makgeolli to refreshing teas, that perfectly complement the meal. And if you have room for dessert (trust me, you'll want to make room), their mochi (ice cream dessert) is the perfect sweet ending to an...
Read moreWe’ve been to five different Gyu-Kaku in three different countries. This one’s service is relatively unpleasant compare to the high service standard we experienced in other Gyu-Kaku locations, especially in Asia. This is an awesome branded Japanese restaurant with delicious food and unbeatable table service. The food at this location is no doubt just as delicious and fresh. But there is room for improvement in terms of service. First, the first time we got there, it took us almost 5 mins at the reception counter to have someone greet us and take our names (while bar employee had seen us standing there the whole time, servers walking by, etc,) no one care enough that two groups of people were waiting at the counter. No one greeted either. Second time we were there, someone greeted but it also took a while for us to be seated. Second, waitress didn’t give us lunch menu and didn’t mention it until we asked about it and she had us scan the QR code on the table for it. Missing menus? Third, salad was in a plate not bowl, and sauce were poured right in the middle, very difficult to mix. Fourth, our barbecue grid was burnt and smelly while no one came to our table to check us out and offer to change it until we asked. Other locations are very good at checking in with customer’s grid condition. Fifth, our server in general wasn’t as attentive as what we had in other locations. She didn’t explain the menu, didn’t tell us it was Happy Hour time (until we asked) didn’t seem like she’s trying to help the restaurant’s business. Anyway, food is awesome, everything is still great. Just a little disappointed with this location’s service standard. Definitely could train your employees better to meet the...
Read moreGyu-Kaku has been one of my go-to spots for years. I love sitting at the bar, enjoying their amazing ramen and chicken wings (some of the best in the city!), and pairing it with a cold beer. I’ve been a regular for about 8 years, and a big part of what keeps me coming back is the bartenders—they’re always super friendly, hardworking, and great to chat with.
But last weekend wasn’t the best experience. When I sat at the bar, I immediately noticed a tense vibe with the bartenders. The restaurant was busy, which is pretty normal, but they seemed unusually stressed. I quickly realized why: there’s a new manager, a bald guy named Andres, and honestly, he’s not doing the team any favors.
He was micromanaging everything—the way drinks were made, how things were cleaned—and hovering over one of the bartenders with this angry look on his face. It was really uncomfortable to watch, and you could tell it was stressing out the staff. They didn’t have the same upbeat energy they usually do, and it started to affect the overall vibe, even for customers like me.
I actually thought about saying something to Andres, just to remind him that a happy team makes for happy customers. It’s not cool to see employees being treated this way—it kills the atmosphere and makes the whole experience less enjoyable.
I’m leaving this review because I really love Gyu-Kaku, and it’s a great restaurant. But good management is key in the hospitality industry, and it’s so important to let employees do their jobs with joy and respect. I hope things improve because this place...
