Upon entering Otto & Pepe, you’re captured by the artfully crafted wine selection that’s displayed beautifully in the wine shop in the front of the restaurant. As you enter into the dining room, you’re in awe with the beauty of the open kitchen, which has counter seating wrapped around the pasta bar where you can view the chefs and cooks creating your dishes in front of you. From the design of the menu, the glassware, the layout of the restaurant, the equipment, the furniture, the lighting, the food and beverage program, uniforms, branding, it’s clear there was a lot of intention and thought into each detail that creates the magic of Otto & Pepe. The food is great, fresh, made from scratch, all the pastas made in house, layers of flavors that celebrates classic Italian pastas and techniques and more. The menu is broken down into “not pasta” “white sauce pasta” “red sauce pasta” “more pasta”. I recommend selecting from each section. I tried quite a few and all were tasty! To list some of my favorites, Paccheri con Branzino, Tagliatella alla Bolognese,Tubetto con patate e basilico , Cannellone. Compliments to the Chef & team! Amazing food! What makes the food better is pairing it with the great beverage selection. Thoughtfully put together with the unique selection, also celebrates small producers and natural, biodynamic practices, it’s hard to make a choice what to drink because you just want to drink it all, but luckily there are sommeliers that can help you select a bottle of wine or wines to match your mood for the night. They will even tell you cool facts about the wine producers and it makes you proud to drink the wine and support those producers. You can even pick up a bottle of wine on your way out in the retail shop. Oh and don’t forget to save room for dessert before you leave! We had a great dining experience. Definitely will be back to try the rest of the menu. Thanks to the whole team for the hospitality! Amazing addition to the Miami dining scene! Go check them...
Read moreOur experience at Otto y Pepe was highly disappointing. While waiting for our table, we started playing a backgammon game left in the waiting area. The hostess informed us someone else had been playing it earlier, to which we responded politely, unsure what the issue was. Instead of addressing the matter professionally, she gave us an unhelpful “so… yeah” response and proceeded to talk about us in Spanish to other staff (I speak Spanish). This behavior was not only unprofessional but made us feel unwelcome.
Once seated, the service failed to improve. Our IDs were taken and held in the back for over 10 minutes for scanning, which felt unnecessary and excessive. Basic service standards were ignored—plates were left uncleared, and for an Italian restaurant, the lack of offering cheese with the meal was surprising.
To make matters worse, the food was underwhelming. The flavors were bland, and nothing about the dishes stood out as particularly impressive or worth the price.
Meanwhile, the managers and staff spent their time chatting in a circle instead of attending to guests. Multiple tables, including ours, were left waiting for food or assistance.
The 18% automatic gratuity was undeserved and the only tip they received. Otto y Pepe’s lack of professionalism, poor service, and uninspired food made this an unpleasant experience. I cannot recommend this restaurant and won’t...
Read moreWe were very excited to try this place as we had heard great things. We had reservations for 945pm. We arrived early around 930pm and were selected to the bar to wait. We ordered drinks at the bar which were not good, but we patiently waited for our table. Close to 10 pm we still had not been sat. We talked to the hostess and she said it would be soon. 1015 came around and nothing, she happened to walk by and we asked again and said we’d been waiting and she said “baby i know, they’re going to get this table ready” and never came back. We asked for the manager, he eventually sat us down almost 1030. Our server was very friendly and nice. We asked for a bottle of wine which apparently they had ran out of so we asked for a second option. The sommelier walked over ended up finding a bottle of our first choice which was a white wine, and brought it to us despite it being warm. We ordered our food which did come out pretty fast. The two lasagna dishes were burnt and the bolognese did not taste good and was not even hot. We let the manager know we would not be eating it and he just apologized and proceeded to bring the bill for the warm bottle of wine and one lasagna (that was eaten due to starvation at this point). Overall just a very bad experience from beginning to end except for our waiter. There was no attempt at recovering our...
