Sakura Express — Restaurant in Midvale

They've been open just 3 weeks but I only spotted them today. I'm normally hesitant to try new restaurants without someone's recommendation & last time I tried a new place I ended up regretting it, but I got brave so I checked the menu online for Sakura Express Midvale, read the reviews, then checked it out. I had the chicken & shrimp combo w/white rice & a veggie medley. I also had a Taro milk tea with boba. Firstly, I've never tried milk tea, never tasted taro, & never had boba. The owners were so nice, she let me sample some boba first. The flavor was similar to tapioca but the pieces are much bigger, like a small blueberry, & black in color. I liked it so I ordered the taro milk tea W/ boba & completely loved it. I'm excited to go back & try other flavors next. As for the food, it was so tasty! The teriyaki sauce is homemade & very fresh. It has a unique flavor I've not seen in other teriyaki sauce. It has a subtle but definitive ginger taste that I really enjoyed. The white rice was moist & tasty, the veggie medley was perfect, the chicken was excellent but what I loved the most was the shrimp, so yum! You can really tell that all their food is fresh. The presentation was great, the serving size was huge. I ordered what I assumed would be a normal size meal but it was so much food! I ate more than I normally would, & still have an equal amount in the fridge left over for lunch tomorrow. Well, everything except the shrimp which I definitely finished. The price/value for the food is excellent. So much better than other places in the area with a similar type of menu but the same pricing or less than the others, & definitely larger serving size. The atmosphere there is nice. The food there is amazing, as is the service! They offer vegetarian options as well as plenty of steak, chicken, shrimp, salmon, etc.The owners are both so friendly. Today I spent time with my uncle and older sister and we decided to get boba! We were pretty hungry after shopping for cleats for a while at the nearby dicks sporting goods and thirsty today because it was so hot! 100 degrees! So we decided to go somewhere with food and drinks! My sister found this place while looking on google maps. We weren’t sure if we would check it out, but I’m glad we decided to. It was close by but in a different plaza, and we even had to do a U turn to get here! Quite the eventful ride! When we arrived the store was virtually empty. So weird! More people should frequent this place. My sister and I are from Ann Arbor so we’re pretty well versed in boba shops but this place blew it out of the water! WOW! We each got a drink and a food item. My uncle made the mistake of getting a small. There are only two size options for drink, but since the drinks are so good, specifically the taro latte from the Sakura favorites section of the menu you should definitely get the large. My sister and I each got a different milk tea with boba and found it highly enjoyable. The straws were just the right thickness to fit the boba! The drinks were iced and pleasantly cold for the weather but the boba was warm, clearly freshly made! My sister got chicken fried rice which had a large serving size, I got the gyoza which had the exact 6 pieces it had specified on the menu and my uncle got two different types of sushi! He got the sexy dragon roll and the sakura roll. The staff was very friendly and even joked about it being called the handsome dragon roll instead. We also had a nice conversation about ube versus taro and I definitely learned something new. How nice! We had a great time all eating and drinking together in their establishment and if I didn’t live on the other side of the country I would definitely come here more often! I really enjoyed the food here! Everything was fresh made to order. The chicken we got last time was juicy, and the steak was delicious! The owners are really nice as well. We got to talk to them and they told us how quality is their priority. So that's why everything is fresh, even the boba balls that they use are all made the same day. I highly recommend the winter melon fruit tea! Since we had a good experience the first time, we decided to come back. This time though, we wanted to see if ordering trays of food was possible so we can share with our friends. I'm so glad that they do! We got a tray of noodles, shrimp, teriyaki chicken, veggies and steak. The noodles were actually really good and flavorful, unlike other places where they are plain.
