First timers last Saturday before a big concert at the stadium. They were packed when we arrived but we found a free table right away. Servers were busy but polite and patient. I don't know the protocol for changing out beer taps and the like, but I'm getting tired of looking at the list of brews on tap that's at the table, seeing a fave, asking for it, and being told that they don't actually have it. It's the same as going to a restaurant, asking for a diet coke and being asked, "Is Pepsi ok?" No. No it isn't. I'm flexible though, so I just got what was suggested instead of my original choice. Then came dinner, which was so delicious. My husband and I both had the stew. His came in a bread bowl and I ordered the sheperd's pie. Both meals were served piping hot! I did burn the top of my mouth, but that's my fault not theirs. What disappointed me the most, however, was that there were NO MASHED POTATOES in my pie!!! It was just the pie crust and the stew. More like a pot pie than sherperd's. We were already late for the show and both our meals took a bit to come out initially, so I knew that if I asked for a replacement, it wouldn't work out timing wise. Super bummed because I LOVE mashed potatoes and wish I could eat them every day. None of this means that we won't go there again, thankfully. The stew was...
Read moreReally want to like this place more as we live so close after moving into the neighborhood last summer. One note, if you're sitting at the bar and ordering beers, this place actual checks all the boxes. You'll get better service, they have a good tap list and pretty fair beer pricing (and a great 2-for-1 happy hour).
If you're here for more than beer, that's when things start to fall apart.
The food here is nothing memorable, and, that would almost be acceptable if it weren't for some of the other glaring flaws. Specifically, the fried food (fries/onion rings) carry a distinct fishy flavor, which makes me think that the oil and/or fryer isn't getting cleaned/replaced regularly. And the service in the dining room can be incredibly frustrating. Its disappointing when the place is near dead and service is still slow. Several times we've been here and the staff are chatting at the end of the bar and not really paying much attention to patrons in the restaurant.
There are so many residents moving into this neighborhood in downtown and there is a real lack of places that are willing to put forward a solid product. The ones that are, are consistently packed...and Pog's seems to have so much potential... We'll be back soon to give...
Read moreStopped by for a drink with a friend. After giving the waitor a 20 dollar bill, he just went to the till and went on about his business. We thought maybe the drinks were really spendy. Curious we ordered the exact two drinks again and a different server gave my friend 6 dollars back. We said something to her since the other guy in the back or somewhere else. She told us we would have to mention it to him. The waitor came out shortly snd we grabbed him and told him we never received our change. With a straight face he goes and grabs $1.25 and puts it on our table and walks away...no apology and $4.75 tip on top of what we had left. If we werent in a hurry I would habe have made this guy get us the correct change. If you hire waitors that steal and then dont say sorry, you know its on purpose. I would fire this guy....not...
