A great place to grab an affordable (and filling) lunch! My party of 4 arrived just after 11:00 and the place was almost empty, by noon it was almost completely full! We started with an appetizer of fried green tomatoes and ranch, which were very lightly breaded and absolutely delicious! We then ordered the daily special of chicken & dumplings, which was like having a hug in a bowl! It tasted just like grandma used to make! My husband ordered the hot momma’s chicken which was perfectly fried chicken that was tossed in buffalo sauce. The sides were just ok. My husband had the cabbage, which was delicious and flavorful, but we found the mac & cheese to be a little on the bland side. We were excited to order the squash casserole as it was recommended by our waitress, but all 3 of us found it bitter and inedible. It literally tasted like the squash was cooked in vinegar…very odd, but since we had plenty of food we didn’t say anything to our waitress. We ended the meal by sharing some delicious banana pudding. On the way out we noticed another diner with a bowl full of squash casserole and asked if it tasted bitter to her as well. She agreed completely and was glad to know that she wasn’t alone thinking so. I think this must’ve been a fluke in the recipe this day. Overall, we had a great meal in a beautiful little restaurant downtown that didn’t break the bank, and we will be back…I just wish they were open for dinner! Photos of fried green tomatoes and chicken & dumplings- both of which...
Read moreGot there at 11:15am during lunch. There were two servers, no big deal everyone is understaffed. Despite not having appropriate help they were full. Once ordered food it was brought out and nobody returns to see how it was. Nobody came to refill drinks either. Had to flag down someone as my fish was not cooked except on the outside. A man came got my plate and said nothing.waited over 10 minutes and finally I had to flag down someone again to get it. The man literally sat the plate in front of me and said nothing the second time either. No apology, no notice we needed refills, nothing! The lack care shown by them was evident. I will not be returning and will tell other to think twice. I did email them to let them know how poorly we were done and nothing back which is exactly what I expected. I will choose a local business who actually appreciates and realizes when they make mistakes! Chick fil A needs to train them in how...
Read moreWhere to start? Place is excellent. I came in with high expectations and left with a higher opinion. Beautiful deco, place has a beautiful and tasteful mural in the West wall.
The entrance is a bit right, due to a raised seating area by the front window. There is a bar area and the flooring is also nice. Great seating area. There are also booths towards the back of the local.
I came on a Friday and had the special which is country fried steak. Delicious; it wasn't over cooked as it tends to be in so many other places I've visited. For my sides, I decided on fried okra and mashed taters with the brown gravy. The okra was perfect, and sooooo fresh; again they executed well and did not over fry the okra, and the mashed tater was so hot, it could've burn water, lol, which I appreciate.
Staff was friendly, and attentive, and service speed did not suffer due to these facts.
I truly recommend this place to anyone. It's...
