Current postmaster, Steve, has been a true disappointment. We have lived at the same address for 2 years now and have never had an issue receiving mail or packages until this past week - at 38 weeks pregnant. A package containing my postpartum items was unable to be delivered due to no secure drop off, which is bogus, our front porch is plenty safe. I scheduled a redelivery and then received the following letter in the mail. The unprofessionalism of this letter was shocking - no number to call, no letterhead, could have been created by anyone with word processing software. I went in to get my package and the employee went to the back to retrieve and could not find it. When I told her I had the tracking number and got it ready to show her, but without looking at said tracking number, she went to the back and less than 30 seconds had my package. Wanted to speak to Steve but he was unavailable, convenient. She stated that as per the letter, it is up to the delivery driver and they use...GOOGLE maps to determine the distance. Called as soon as I got home to speak with Steve, he promptly answered. Stated that the only option is to have a package receptacle next to our mailboxes as we are not within 1/4 mile of the mailbox (we are .3 miles away...) Our property begins within 1/4 mile of the mailbox, but we will have to re-establish point of delivery if we were to build a package receptacle there and that costs the post office money, so they cannot do that. I promptly did my own research thru various USPS employees I know and information on the USPS website. All information states that the delivery drop off must be within 1/2 mile of the mailbox for parcels that do not fit in the mailbox. We are well within that. Steve also lied and said they are open Saturdays, but all other sources state differently. A lot of this is probably prego rage, but by the similar issues experienced by my neighbors, this sort of behavior needs to stop and right now I will do whatever I can to get good...
Read moreI have lived in Monroe for 24 years DO NOT GO TO THIS POST OFFICE. I have had nothing but problems at here. The WORST SERVICE POSSIBLE. They have lost a thousand dollars worth of my packages THIS YEAR ALONE. Every other time I go into this branch there is someone with a damaged or lost package that is not being helped. Unfortunately today I was one of those people. My most recent complaint is that I went in on Wednesday and paid next day mailing on a package that was extremely important with the contents being worth over 500$. It was delivered on Saturday. I asked if I could have the package sent back to me because it wasnt picked up because of its late arrival and the manager declined saying that it isn't their fault that the package was not picked up from the post office.. Even though it was supposed to be there on THURSDAY and I paid for it to be there on Thursday. I told the same manager that his branch has lost other packages, some worth almost the same amount and that they always give me this type of run around, He was extremely rude to me even though I was ASSURED by everyone working on Wednesday that my package would arrive hassle free. On the way out I let him know that I would be posting online about my experience with his branch and he THREATENED TO CALL THE POLICE IF HE EVER SAW ME AGAIN. Do not deal with this rural branch, if you want your packages to actually reach your destination use Fed ex, UPS or drive them where they need to go yourself, with the way this USPS branch handles their business you'll have better luck taking another option. I would trust a homeless man to deliver my packages more than this Monroe...
Read moreThis post office is the worst I have ever dealt with. Here is what I've experienced in the last couple years:
because of this post office, I was 2 weeks late on my rent. I've never been late before. I sent the check out, and I got a call from my landlord saying she never received it. So I sent a second check out that day. Guess what? Both checks arrived to my landlords box the following day. It was almost as if they just "forgot" about it, and when I sent the second one the realized the mistake and sent both. It sounds like a simple mistake, but my credit was hurt because of the Monroe P.O..
I had a memorial vinyl for my car shipped to me. The package clearly stated "handle with care, do not bend". I came home, and the package was left on my porch (which does not have a cover) IN THE MIDDLE OF A RAINSTORM. needless to say, it was completely ruined. I went to the post office to ask what could be done, they claimed that they are not responsible unless insurance is bought.
Now, my paycheck has been lost. Was sent from a monroe address, and its been a week. I wish I could...
