Subject: Negative Krispy Kreme Customer Service Experience
To whom it may concern, I wanted to bring to your attention a negative interaction regarding my wife and kids experiences while attempting to purchase items from one of the Krispy Kreme locations in Myrtle Beach.
Respectively, on or about January 11, 2024, at approximately 1920 hours, my wife, kids, and I were enroute to our hotel when we like most families observed the well lite and bright Krispy Kreme window log sign. We immediately know and understand that this sign represents that there are hot, ready, and fresh doughnuts available at all Krispy Kreme stores. Whether this is an accurate description of what that sign means, I am not sure, but it has been the standard for me and my family for years that we have been loyal patrons of Krispy Kremeās all over.
I immediately pulled into the parking lot. All the lights were on inside and we could see employees walking around but for some reason the doors were locked and there were no signs or notes regarding limited or no access into the establishment. After we were unable to enter the lobby to purchase doughnuts, we drove around to the drive through which did have a line. Once we were able to pull up to the drive through, we started out order of (2) dozen glazed doughnuts. At this time the employee on the other end of the microphone indicated there would be a 15ā30-minute wait on doughnuts. I immediately stated that the light is on, and I was under the impression that their glazed doughnuts are hot and ready to purchase. The employee cut me off mid sentences and stated, āThey Notā and āThatās not what that sign means,ā the employee went on to state that the sign means doughnuts will be ready. I understand in the grand scheme of things, this is not an emergency or an issue to the degree that this many not rise to even addressing it with your company, but at that time for me and my family it was important, probably more so because of the negative attitude, experience and the fact that most people have been led to believe that when the Krispy Kreme lights is on, that is the most efficient and opportune time to buy those hot doughnuts. This has been my experience at all the Krispy Kreme establishments that I have been to over the years. I have never received that type of negative customer service and downright dismissive attitude. Needless to say, we left the drive through and drove a few miles north, on Kings highway and eventually stopped at a Dunkin Doughnuts.
I do understand my complaint is limited in scope but my wife and me wanted to at least bring this to the attention of Krispy Kreme, in hopes that the next time that we visit this location, which we will; it is our hope that we will not have a similar negative...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI live in Baltimore and it nearly broke my heart when the Krispy Kreme up the street from us closed and since the nearest location now is about 40 miles away we rarely get to indulge so I was thrilled to not only find a Krispy Kreme in Myrtle Beach but one with the Hot Donuts sign shining brightly. First thing I noticed when we walked in was that they offer a lot more choices than I remember them ever having, with choices like Nutter Butter, Cake Batter and Chips Ahoy along with familiar favorites like glazed & chocolate frosted among others. We decided on a half dozen and chose Nutter Butter, Blueberry Cake, Chocolate with Sprinkles, Raspberry filled and 2 Original Glazed. Even though the case was fully stocked I was so happy that the lady who waited on us got 2 hot glazed that just came off the conveyor belt - talk about melt in your mouth, trip down memory lane yumminess. As soon as we got in the car I took a bite of that warm, fluffy glazed donut and the memories came rushing back, I wolfed it down in less than a few minutes and had to stop myself from running back in for a dozen of them. This location has a nice seating area and lots of parking and the staff is so welcoming. We stopped in on our way home for a couple of glazed for our ride home and now I can't stop thinking about them. Looking forward to next year's vacation but in the meantime I guess we'll be taking some roadtrips to the closest...

But when we got them, they were cold. We stopped the cashier and explained that we came for the fresh ones. She said, "Oh, those won't be ready until 6pm. I don't even know why the sign is lit." My boyfriend -- very nicely, I might add -- returned the doughnuts and asked for a refund. The manager came over and tried to talk us into buying something else. We declined. He said, "Okay, that's fine, I understand." Then he hesitated and asked us again if we'd like to order something else. We again said no. He gave us our change and it was $3 short. My boyfriend calmly explained the problem and for some reason, the cashier and the manager couldn't figure out how to give us all of our money back. They stood over the register staring at our receipt and the money and talked back and forth until my boyfriend finally said, "Look, keep the $3 and we'll take the doughnuts. Okay?" The manager seemed greatly relieved. We left completely dumbfounded. We certainly won't give up on Krispy Kreme but we won't be visiting...
