Summary: Overall I think this will prove to be a bad decision for First Watch, and I recommend that they bring back the old menu offerings from Bread and Co. ASAP before they lose valuable clientele. I know I likely won't be back unless this happens.
I don't understand why First Watch had to mess with a good thing. Bread and Co. had some great salads and sandwiches, and their menu has been replaced with a totally new one that in heavy on breakfast items. I asked one of the staff why the change was made, and she said that the "kids" liked the avocado toast and some egg dish, so they kept those but changed the menu otherwise. I am not a "kid" and I appreciated the salad variety, especially the Montrachet and the Strawberry Fields chicken salads. The well known menu variety from Bread and Co. was far better than the pared down one that this new place is offering.
I had a turkey sandwich with bacon and a side of field greens, and while it was okay, it didn't seem worth the $11.99 I paid.
Also, the atmosphere is different. it feels dark and claustrophobic now. We went at 11:15 and there were just a few other tables in there, which is far different from the bustling crowd that would have been in Bread and Co. at the same time.
Even the ice is different. Bread and Co had nugget ice, and Sun and...
Read moreI went here to treat my parents to some good breakfast and because they haven't been here before. They also don't usually eat out so my mom took a good while to decide what she wanted. The man at the register seemed irked by this as I felt rushed trying to tell him my entire order. Still, nothing felt out of the ordinary until he asked if I wanted to leave a tip. I said "Not today, sorry" and he remarked sarcastically "Ah, thanks!" In context, I'm a college student relying heavily on financial aid who also helps pay my parents' bills, and frankly I don't need judgement from a stranger for not leaving a tip nor do I want to explain my financial status as I am right now, but alas. Anyways, I was taken aback by his response and wanted to leave the situation as fast as possible so I left as soon as I paid, forgetting the table marker, cups, and utensils that came with my order. He called me back as I turned around, with the same tone, "Don't you need these items?" gesturing towards them, so I grabbed them quickly. I pretended to be okay for the rest of the time as my parents thoroughly enjoyed the food, and the rest of the staff were much more amicable. TL;DR Man at register judged me for not leaving a tip. I suggest leaving one unless you want to be met...
Read moreI wanted a good breakfast place to have breakfast on Saturday morning and I came across this place on West end avenue. This place is a sister company of first watch restaurants. So here's how it works you place your order and then you go sit down and then they bring the food out to you. I ordered the waffle and bacon and eggs and a meat lovers omelette and everything was prepared to perfection. The waffle was fluffy and sweet and the eggs were cooked perfectly and the bacon was crisp. The meat omelette was prepared with all the ingredients that I listed and for a garnish they prepared a salad with vinaigrette dressing which gave it a nice healthy attractive look. This place and its atmosphere was entertaining everyone was able to enjoy their meal and drinks and coffee was self-service. The service was on point and the waitresses really care to make your food taste great. The most important thing of it was price-wise very reasonable and you won't spend the same as lunch when ordering breakfast here. You need to give this place a shot and you will feel at home and the food is fantastic and I strongly suggest you won't be...
