Just got home from a stay at reno/lake tahoe. We had a few comp rooms in reno for hot august nights which were great, we decided to extend our stay and go to tahoe - being harveys has been newly remodeled to caesars republic that was our first choice. We booked 1 night. I dont know if it was an off day but it was a terrible visit to say the least. It was 2 adults 1 teen and 1 infant. First the parking issue - its very confusing apparently we parked in the concert parking which is where it said valet and had a walkway to caesars. We parked there for 58 minutes before finding out where to move the car- we were charged 50$ to let us get our car out even though it was obvious as it was 58 minutes ( apparently they charge 50$ on concert nights and we weren't there for concert ) for hotel guests their valley on the back of the lot is 25$ per day for guests. No free parking at all. The bell staff was wonderful and there was no issues. There is kiosks that allow you to do self check in but of course we did so and it asked us to see attendant to get key- so what's the point we still had to wait in line. If you check in before 4 ( we did 330 ) they charge an additional 25$. The signage is poor and is difficult to navigate where to go. The hallways and rooms are tiny. The stroller which is small could barely get though room. The mini bar is a joke. It's at grab level for kids and is ridiculously priced. The floors in hallways were filthy - yes I know recent remodel but that area had been finished for over a month. The room right next door to us had a dog that barked loudly all night long despite us calling the front desk and complaining. Hoped In the shower to refresh to find the body wash pump with not a drop of soap- luckily the shampoo and conditioner were full so I used that but what the heck - not a drop!. Stopped to get players card and the lady mist have been new as we waited 30 minutes in line and there was only 2 people ahead of us. Went down to casino to play some slots- figured id try the bar first to start with a drink and the bartender charged me for the drink saying I hadn't spent 20$ yet on machine - never have i had that issue considering i was actively playing with my card in too. Everyone except my bell hops in and out and the lady I was texting about check in and out ( they have a text feature) was rude - did the remodel also include changing out employees or lowing their pay so their bitter ? I left and went to harrahs to gamble and drink and everyone was polite, happy and happy to help. I am disappointed to say the least- they dont offer free passes to beach like alot of the hotels do- they used to be a go to place im hoping someone who runs the place sees this and has a team meeting because im not just being a complainer I stay in hotels on travel often and I was blown away by the poor customer service here. Luckily location will always help them and they may get away with it but wouldn't you want a great reputation? We spend so much money gambling and dont mind spending but jeez it's a vacation shouldn't...
Read moreWe were in town for a concert. The concert was experiencing delays and we decided to get food since we couldn't get in yet. We ordered the street corn and Nachos appetizers. The flavor was great! The street corn was nicely seasoned, but a little "watery." WOULD ORDER AGAIN, even though it's expensive for what it is.
Let's get to the "nachos!" These things arrived COVERED in a thick layer of jack cheese. Barely any visible chips. I grab a corner of what I can see and it immediately tears away from the rest of the chip. Basically, they smother in sauce and cheese and make the entire thing a soggy mess. We asked the server if this is usual and she says "Yes, they refuse to change the menu or how the cook it. They put enchilada sauce all over. We've complained, they refuse to change. Would you like a basket of fresh chips?"
So, we accepted the fresh chips and cut up the plate of soggy mess, to then eat with a chip. Oy. What a disaster.
The server was wonderful, but the decor, lighting, "table varnish" and less, left more to be desired. Luckily, the flavor is the only thing that saves from. The 1 star....
Read moreUnpleasant visit to this Mexican restaurant within the Harvey's casino. Went there to watch a UFC fight. When seated we were told $25 minimum per person which was not a problem with food and drinks. Nachos were soggy and covered in a pound of melted cheese, almost no beef. Soup and tacos were good. Waitress came back and said it was $25 per person per hour which seemed ridiculous. Ordered shots of fireball which were 1 oz and served in plastic shot glasses. The cherry on top was the waitress adding gratuity for a 2 person party. We would have actually tipped more if she didn't try to...
