I tried their tacos before they opened as they were doing some promotional thing handing them out in the street. The tacos de trompo (pastor) were delicious and I made a note to visit the restaurant when they opened.
Sure enough, the meat and the tortillas were great, but sadly thats where the good comments end. There's a salsa bar with like 6 different salsas, and every single one wasn't spicy and also needed something more (garlic, salt, flavor). While there was a good charred flavor, the salsas were all too one-note and uninspired.
The price of everything is also a little ridiculous. $55 for 8 tacos and 2 drinks which you will leave still feeling hungry if you came in a little more than peckish.
My last critique is the horchata, it tastes like whole milk, sugar, and faint cinnamon. Admittedly, I'm only familiar with horchata from the north mexican states, but I typically look for a pronounced toasted rice flavor and cinnamon up front, with warm spices in the back (star anise, clove). Some people embellish this with almonds, peanuts, etc but at least the baseline should have toasted rice as the predominant flavor. The one they make in house tastes like bottled American rice pudding. Is it good? Sure, but lacking and boring.
If this place is 30% cheaper and ups the game on their salsas, it would be 5 star. Heck, grill a Serrano per order so at least people have the option of spice. Grilled onions as an option would be cool too, so you could do all 3 types in one taco (raw,...
Read moreFirst of all I when yesterday to try them out and see for my self how it was!! No trying to post a negative review but i will call it how i saw it and taste it!! 1.Even that i know that tortillas are fresh to me they honestly taste like tortillas from grocery store! 2.was way over priced,4 tacos and two drinks for almost $40 dollars is insane i know for sure i won’t be going back to spend that kind of money for little bit of food 3.They say some of the meet is sirloin or ribeye for that matter but is chopped so much that it taste like any other type of meat, any meat cooked that same way would have taste the same. 4.it felt to me over condiment once you put salsa and that so to me if is stake meat you don’t really need so much condiments on the meat. They should at least put two tortillas per taco instead of one! Lower the prices because at the end of the day any taco truck can give me what i got yesterday from there! I would prefer to go to tacos del cartel 100%
Service was good very pleasant and polite
The type of tile on the floors make the floors look dirty
I do wish them the best success I follow the owner and i can tell he will make sure everything...
Read moreMy wife and I have been coming here since the soft opening, and we keep coming back for more! The tacos al pastor are absolutely delicious and crafted with care, and honestly every taco and side we’ve tried has been outstanding. Their drinks are always fresh and refreshing, which makes the whole experience even better.
The décor is spot-on for the location—fun, inviting, and full of personality. The Fanta Orange theme throughout makes you feel like you’ve stepped into the Disneyland of tacos, but the flavors stay true to authentic Mexican street tacos cooked on a trompo. The ambiance is perfect, and the staff is always friendly and welcoming.
One of the best parts? They’re open after midnight on weekends, which makes this a fantastic late-night stop. Whether it’s dinner or a midnight craving, this is the place you’ll want to come back to again and again.
If you love tacos, you’ll love Taquerias Carnalito. 🌮...
