BLACK ANTS! However, the food was very good. Service was equally good. HOWEVER, just as we were finishing our meal, we noticed there was a tiny black ant on the paper liner in the basket that our French fries were served in. Then we noticed two, then three, and then four ants in the basket. Upon closer inspection, the wall under the windows where we were sitting was crawling with little tiny black ants and they were conveniently crawling onto the liner in the French fry basket which was sitting against this same wall. We informed our server; who was genuinely aghast. She immediately told her manager; who came over to take a look and to tell us very nonchalantly, that they were spraying for ants in two days. Did these people already know there were ants at these tables yet continued to serve people??? Sad. Very sad. I was not convinced that anybody was or is planning to solve the ant problem – ever! The manager did comp us for an $8.99 dessert for having ants in our fries. Again, very sad. Should have comped the entire meal. The waitress, again, who clearly did not know there were ants in the restaurant, offered to sit us at another table. She was very nice and very attentive. Again, the food was fine; however, management attention in this restaurant is severely lacking. If there are black ants in the front of the store where customers are, I can only imagine what the back of the house in the kitchen looks like and what might be crawling there – we will not return to this particular Hog Heaven in New...
Read moreWe got 5 main items, and 2 were amazing, which is how I came up with the 2 star review. The brew city fries are THE best fries in New Philly in my opinion. Crispy and kind of flaky with a nice potato in the middle. They are seasoned nicely as well. The potato skins are some of the best I have ever had! Perfect potato to cheese and toppings ratio, and it was not dry like many other places. These two items are enough to make me come back to try more of the menu. Now the bad, the ribs, I can’t get the manufactured flavor out of my mouth. It tasted like the old Rib-B-Qs we had in school. Except it’s stronger. It tastes very cheap. I pulled out two giant slivers of I guess “fat” although they looked like glue sticks so I don’t know what it was. I only took three bites out of the slab, my wife the same with hers. These taste funny. That was disappointing since it’s ribs, and HH is supposed to be known for meats. We also tried the Boneless wings and rice and coleslaw. They were okay. Not bad, they were fine, no reason to get them again though. Mac and cheese was bland and a bit watery. This feels like a bad review, and it kind of is. I spent almost $100, I really could have spent $20 on Potato Skins and Fries. Considering that’s the two things I continued eating after trying everything. Wings, Mac and Cheese, I can live with mid tier but the ribs, those need completely overhauled in my opinion. I’m sure someone likes them, just not me or my wife. I will be back for the Tater Skins and...
Read moreIf I order takeout while visiting from out of town. I did not receive the condiments for my order, even though they were listed on my receipt. I had to wait an hour after my order for pick-up, which on a holiday weekend isn't surprising. However when I showed up I waited nearly 10 minutes to even be greeted. The pickup attendant was on the telephone so it's understandable that she was not able however no one in the restaurant greeted me or asked me what I needed. I also overheard staff joking about a customer complaint. When I arrived back at the hotel with my food I noticed the missing condiments. I decided to continue with my food because I was from out of town and any credit would likely not be used. The food was already well under temp as if it had been sitting. I do not understand why they would not have notified me that my food is ready prior to the estimated time. The food tasted good overall, but the temperature was unpleasant, and none of it would stand out as exceptional. One small side complaint was that each dish was packaged in an individual plastic container place inside of another larger plastic carryout container placed inside of a carry out bag. That wastefulness is obviously driving...
