This seems like it's not as good as AbcV used to be in the Flatiron district.
The service is very inexperienced. Some of the wait staff seems almost scared. The manager is trying to run interference but all sorts of odd behavior happened when I ordered a glass of wine. At one point, a waiter said nothing but snatched the glass I was drinking away and put down a different glass.
All the food flew out of the kitchen even though the waiter asked is we wanted to order starters and we said yes. Once we did we asked if we could order the mains and we did. Then the mains came out first within minutes all of food on the table. We were very confused.
Some of the food was also uneven and stingy for the price. The crispy artichokes were ample, looked great and were quite tasty, but not exactly crisp.
The flavor on the kuri squash curry was delicious but I could barely find it discern the squash. I liked the presentation on the coconut sticky rice but it was a little undercooked. We ordered the walnut Bolognese because the host recommended it to someone else and it was completely underseasoned.
The chicory salad was kinda one note -...
Read moreI absolutely love the Union Square ABCV and wanted to try out the new location at the Tin Building. Huge disappointment. The mushroom walnut bolognese we normally get was very watery, like the noodles weren’t even strained and lacked flavor. Our server Lorenzo was impersonal and gave the most lackluster service. He never asked how we liked the food and could barely be found half the time. He did not introduce himself upon greeting the table and looked like he’d rather be elsewhere and the restaurant was far from busy. So sad about this as we brought someone from out of town after raving about the food all day and it was just a complete bust. Posting this in hopes they will work on making sure the quality of their dishes and hospitality remain consistent no matter the location as this is a great restaurant and would hate for this new location to bring down the reputation they have so...
Read morePretty solid vegan restaurant which is very needed in FiDi! We got the hazelnut/pepper dip, avocado/coconut yogurt dosa, sourdough bread with hazelnut butter, celeriac katsu and mushroom walnut Bolognese. My favorite was the celeriac katsu which has a nice quince black bean paste with mustard on the side. When combined it's very refreshing and tastes way better than any pork or chicken katsu I had in the past. Hazelnut butter was also lovely and unique. Dosa was a bit too greasy. Overall still a while to go to be on par with the food we had at abcV, another Jean-George restaurant.
Servers were friendly. It's obvious the team is still figuring things out. We had multiple servers to our table taking orders while none of them came back to confirm the dietary restriction question we asked. The servers kept taking dishes that were not finished. They also forgot the bread we ordered, had to...
