Some of the worst service that I've received in the city. I'm truly disappointed, because I was really looking forward to the experience. My friend and I visited for afternoon tea. Be warned that this is strictly a cake shop - not a tea shop. Their entremets are incredible. The flavors are amazing. But AnnTremet just stuck three tables into a corner and called it a restaurant. Most important thing to note here - they do NOT have their own bathroom. They made me pee at a public restroom in the park because there were "too many people working today" for me to use their bathroom. Interacting with the (only) person working front of house was an insulting and bizarre experience. It was as though she had never had a customer service job in her life, and yet simultaneously believed I was a total idiot for expecting to be taken care of at a restaurant. Not only did I have to greet her (she just stared when we walked in) I also had to prompt her for every step of selecting our baked goods. "So, what comes first?" ["You have to pick stuff"] "Does the tea come with one of the entremets?" ["Yeah you gotta pick a cake"] long pause after we pick cakes "So...do we choose anything else?" ["Yeah pick a cookie"] another long pause with staring "Can we have coffee as well?" ["I mean...it's gonna be extra but I guess?"]. It was almost as though she didn't realize she worked at a restaurant. Some people have never had afternoon tea before. I have worked years of service jobs. You need to help patrons with navigating the experience. Once we were seated, we waited for 20 minutes; then, when another table sat down, someone ran out from the back and gave them our food. The worker at the front did not say anything at all. The restaurant did not apologize or acknowledge it until I asked them why that table received our food. Our tea didn't come out for another 15 minutes. This place must be sorely understaffed, and their front house needs retraining. I WILL order a cake here but I will never...
Read moreWe had a ridiculous experience ordering a birthday cake from this place. Tl; dr, if you are ordering anything from this place, use a credit card just in case you need to dispute the charge given it's possible you are not getting it and the store will gaslight you.
We had confirmed with the sales person that we wanted the birthday cake to be delivered on Saturday weeks in advance. Comes Saturday afternoon, nothing from the store, tried to text the sales person, completely ghosted. We called the store around 5 p.m. to ask what happened and they said they thought we were picking it up. Fine, we have the text history to show it's not a pick-up but they said they couldn't have it delivered on Saturday and have to do Sunday. This is a birthday cake, mind you lol, but it's better than nothing. So we gave them our address again and asked it to be delivered at noon, Sunday. Comes noon the day afternoon, nothing. Called again and we were told that we had asked them to deliver at 2 p.m. Okay, it's later and another effort to gaslight us but okay, still better than nothing. Comes 2 p.m., still nothing. Called again, and these guys had delivered to Manhattan because when we told them "Brooklyn, New York" they forgot to put down "Brooklyn". They once again tried to gaslight us into thinking we didn't put down the correct address. And THEY TOLD US THEY WOULD CHARGE $45 FOR DELIVERY NOW BECAUSE THE DELIVERY PERSON IS TAKING A BREAK AND THE TRAFFIC AND ALL. Lmao even. Mind you again this is a Birthday cake and they even couldn't have it delivered the day after and would charge extra. They tried to gaslight us the entire time and was not apologetic one bit. I guess they would like to cover their bases but...
Read morethis post is super late but wanted to share about the delicious cakes that i got from anntremet for my sister's birthday earlier this year. their cakes are so aesthetically pleasing, and they're delicious too - not too sweet yet still flavorful. since we had a large group coming over, i got a 7-inch 'purple dream' cake ($82) and a mini mousse cake combination box ($35).
their menu seems to change so the one i chose is no longer on the menu but honestly, everything on the menu sounds wonderful and is customizable. i chose this particular one as it had a layer of purple yam purée, purple yam chiffon cake, and pandan infused coconut mousse, all flavors that my sister loves.
the mini mousse cake flavors also change and they typically list which ones are included when you order. i liked that ordering this set gave you the opportunity to try a variety of flavors. (i think) the ones we got were the passion, blueberry lemon lavender, lychee apricot, and black sesame.
back in april, delivery was only $5 in manhattan (which was honestly a steal since it'd cost me more to go pick it up via subway) but it looks like it has since increased to $10-$20
i also visited the actual bakery a few months later and tried the pandan coconut and all about strawberry mini cakes. the seating area is small and you need a reservation to do the afternoon tea, which i would definitely love to...
