Benelux — Restaurant in New York

I've been excited about this restaurant opening for awhile, I'm a frequent customer at the sister spot Little King. So when the opportunity to host a 30 rehearsal person dinner occurred, I knew there was only one option. The owners worked with us on the space and the menu beforehand, personalizing it to our tastes and the dietary restrictions of our guests. Biodynamic wine flowed freely, the staff was super attentive, and the food choices were fantastic and well received by everyone. I had the mussels and fries, perfectly seasoned and generously portioned. And a special note about the atmosphere...the place is beautifully decorated with fun wallpaper and a stunning mural by Samantha French outside. In summary, they did a great job with a large party even though they'd only been open a week and I can't wait to go back to try the rest...

Love love love this place! We started with the crab dip and at first sight I was disappointed that it wasn't creamy like most crab dips but I was wrong!!! It's somehow better than the cheesy creamy crab dip I have come to love. It's fresh and light and amazing with their housemade salt and vinegar chips. For dinner I had the kale salad with chicken snchnitzel which was equally amazing. The chicken was tender and really well breaded. The salad was fresh and super crisp. I also got some tastes of the Benelux burger and the Netherlands mussels from my friends which were both amazing. I'm pretty sure you can't go wrong at this place. We ended the night with the stroop waffle which I was told I would love, and goddamnit was that the truth! In summary, eat here. You won't regret or...

I was there New Years Ever for their Pre-Fix dinner. The bass crudo appetizer was tough and tasteless, except for the garnish of what appeared and tasted exactly like lime Jello. I sent the cobia entree back because it had a weird, burned taste and looked like extruded plastic. It sat on top of some celeriac with the consistency of baby food, and it all came in a broth that I tasted twice and quit. Never got to the dessert because the staff was so slow and disorganized. Extra negative points for the manager reprimanding a waiter right in front of me. Oh, and they didn't adjust the check for the entree I sent back, and the 3 desserts we didn't eat. Won't be back and they probably will be gone soon anyway....
