Eileen's Special Cheesecake — Restaurant in New York

I came to pick up a large strawberry cheesecake last Friday before closing (09/10/21). First, nobody greeted us as we stood there for a few minutes and they looked at us from their kitchen/office or whatever that area behind the counter space is. Then when the gentleman came out, he was polite.

We’ve been getting cheesecake from here since 2007 and always raving about how great it is to everyone. This time, the cheesecake was very crumbly. It barely tasted like anything. I couldn’t even cut a slice without it falling apart. I had guests over and was embarrassed at how the plates looked like mush. Nobody was impressed by it and even asked why we go all the way to the city for “this.”

I called Eileen’s and the same gentleman picked up. He advised us to email the owner to see what she wants to do. I emailed her on Saturday (09/11/21) and included a picture as well as a video clip of me cutting a slice. It’s been a week and no response. I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt but I think a week should be enough time to get back to a loyal customer. This will be the last time I get anything from here, and I will no longer be recommending them to people. They don’t care about their customers’ satisfaction. If you want to charge $55 for a cheesecake, it should be good quality. I understand that sometimes cakes don’t come out as planned, but the least you can do is respond and try to make things right. I came here in 2022 when I was visiting from out of town. I saw this shop featured in a video online and knew I had to try it if I ever came to NYC. When my boyfriend and I were invited to a wedding just north of NYC, I begged him to spare some time in our trip to find me some cheesecake. He agreed even though it meant he was going to miss out on finding anything fun to do in the city, but he knew how much this meant to me and lovingly went along with it (even though he isn't a huge sweets fan).

The day came and we were on our way into the big city to find the best cheesecake! We arrived and my boyfriend had to hold me back on buying one of everything. I can't remember which ones I got, but I do remember I got a mini strawberry and a mini raspberry. We sat at the park across the street and dug in.

You know when you've hyped something up so much, you aren't sure it will ever live up to that? And let me tell you. I had this cheesecake up on the tallest pedestal. But oh my god did it not disappoint! It's been nearly 2 years later since I ate these little cheesecakes and I still get cravings for them! All other cheesecakes are disappointing. If I was rich, I would be getting these delivered all the way to Michigan for me to fill that cheesecake void in my life.
