come for the tacos, but stay for the burritos. El Gallo Taqueria serves up some tasty Mexican food on the edges of Little Italy. the small restaurant has a few tables inside and a table outside as well as offering takeout and delivery. the decor is playful. the interior is clean, organized, and brightly lit. basically you order at the register and pick up your food to eat. though the food isn't slapped together--it takes a little bit of time and that extra time spent shows in those flavorful calories you'll be enjoying.
ordered takeout here recently--ordered a taco al pastor as well as a barbacao burrito. the taco was layer upon layer of flavor from the savory chunks of grilled pork, the slaw, onions, cilantro, and pineapple (i think)--so good. the folks here packed some medium hot sauce which i generously poured on for some spicy kick and let me tell you it was great. definitely would recommend the tacos which are not tiny, here. $4 + tax + tip
El Gallo's barbacao burrito is hands-down delicious. the barbacao is slow-cooked beef that is super tender and packed with flavor. the burrito is an ample size and generous in terms of fillings. it is stuffed with rice, beans, pico de gallo, guacamole, guacamole, crema, and cheese. the slow-cooked beef and all the other ingredients meld together and create this fantastic mix of flavors and textures. the ingredients taste super fresh and that makes a real difference in the end product. i ordered the "baby" burrito which is made in a 10" flour tortilla and that size was perfect for one person. definitely an all-in-one-meal anyone to devour. $8 + tax + tip
the staff is friendly and helpful--i had a couple of q's which were answered quickly. my takout order was packed nicely and...
Read moreI think I've found my favorite Mexican restaurant! I randomly ordered a mini Avo + Shrooms burrito for delivery and it changed my life. I regretted getting a mini and wished it was original size. Their house made salsas are amazing too, I just wanted to drink them on their own. Ok not really but the salsa finished way before the chips so that's a sign. I wish they sold bottles of their sauces, l'd buy in a heartbeat. I went back to make sure it's not a fluke. I ordered the original sized Avo + Shrooms burrito and chips with salsa. The burrito was as amazing as the first time I had it. It's juicy, with ingredients all mixing perfectly together. And the salsa was done way before the chips, so I certainly need a full bottle. I tried the burrito while walking. I just wanted a bite, but I finished it before I got home. Chips and salsa were my meal at home. Ok!? It's that good! Oh oops. Almost forgot about the awesome flan! If you're in the mood for something sweet, you...
Read moreI’ve ordered from this place/location (369 Broome St.) on numerous occasions, and loved their food. Today I saw they were having a promotion of buy one get one free, but I got what seemed to be, buy one and have it split in two separate containers! When I called I was told that the manager couldn’t assist as they have changed their portion sizes due to complaints of inconsistent servings! The irony of that statement is that my “TWO burrito bowls” each lacked something. One bowl had practically NO chicken while the other had NO beans! What I got was rice, bean sauce and guacasalsa in one and a toddler portion of chicken, rice and beans in the other. As you can imagine, ONE burrito split in half served in two containers. Two inconsistent toddler portions! That’s what I received! (Note: if you’re going to down size on portions you also need to keep up with the presentation meaning the package; smaller...
