During afternoon walk at 5PM we passed by Fairfax caffe in West Village NY. We asked a male gentleman who I assume was a waiter for a seat for two and he politely asked us to wait to see if there was a table available since they had dinner reservations ( at that point two tables were occupied). He promptly came back and very politely informed us that we can take a table for two by the door which we were fine with since I have dislocated left shoulder and it was a perfect spot for me to have a cup of cappuccino and rest an arm which was in a sling against the table. He left us there with a phrase enjoy and poured two glasses of water for us while we wait to make an order. When another female waiter came to take the order and heard that we were taking only cappuccinos she said that they have dinner reservations ( which we were told by previous gentleman that it was ok to take those two seats) and that she is happy to sell us cappuccinos to go. Instantly and simultaneously she took both glasses of water that we were previously served and while holding those two glasses of water said I am sorry I won’t be able to take your order. I did ask her for only 15 min to enjoy cappuccinos at a lovely spot but she just said :”Sorry” and walked away with two glasses of water. That act was actually more rude than anything else and I understand they want customers to eat but we were there during the time when there were no customers waiting to get a table and there were plenty of tables available at that point. Whatsmore, there was a gentleman at the table next to us who was sitting by himself, drinking coffee and working on his laptop. Lovely spot which I visited several times for brunch but poor customer service or I would say rather rude waiter made me write...
Read moreIn my visit to Fairfax, as soon as I stepped through the doors I was greeted kindly and welcomed in. The restaurant was rather busy at the time, as it was lunch, but, I only had to wait about 15 minutes before I was seated, which was very surprising to me. I was kindly helped to my seating and was promptly asked if I would like a drink. The hosts and servers were very kind, and I could truly tell that they cared about whether I was having a good experience or not. The meal was amazing! I had ordered their $20 wine and meal lunch special and chose to have their Green Salad with a glass of Andre Scherer, Pinot Blanc. The Green Salad was prepared perfectly and had great layers of flavor all throughout the salad. The wine was to my exact taste, and I was highly tempted to order another glass, but chose against it. Overall, my experience was great, the food was amazing, the servers were kind, and what stood out most to me was the fact that the prices were not as high as you would normally expect with the quality of the food that was served. I would have gladly paid $30-$40 for what I had eaten, but, having it at half of that price was great! I will definitely be...

Food Taste, presentation, portion size were all incredible. I didn’t get the beloved burger and went a more seafood forward route. Hats off the chef for pulling off very creative, tasty, and balanced dishes. I’m still thinking about the fish cakes and sea bass. Both were lovely and satisfied a deep craving for a good meal.
Cocktails Sat at the bar and got front row seating to an incredible bartending service. The highlight of the night was trying the cocktails - I loved them all and was having a blast getting to chat with the bartender. I would go back alone. Seems like an awesome place to spark a convo with people too.
Service Friendly, hardworking, funny and great with recommendations. I would expect nothing less.
Vibes Great vibes and people seemed to really be enjoying their meals I hope they can maintain the quality and experience. Was so so pleasantly surprised...
