Gregorys Coffee — Restaurant in New York

I will start will the positive. My first visit to Gregory’s was pretty good! I got a strawberry matcha (first photo) and a few pastries for pickup. I appreciate when a cafe’s matcha powder isn’t pre-sweetened, and they have unsweetened non-dairy options. The scone and banana bread were tasty, and much larger than I anticipated. I could chalk up the lack of good customer service to placing a mobile order. I didn’t have to interact with the cashier, but I wasn’t greeted when I walked in or even acknowledged when I said “thank you” once my drink came out either. Regardless of the service (or lack thereof), I enjoyed the strawberry matcha and decided to come back. I placed a mobile order again, received the same level of service (wouldn’t have been a bother had I received a good drink), but did not receive the same quality of drink. The second and third pictures show what I received the second time. I waited a few minutes for my drink in the cafe, but still thought maybe the foam had melted into the drink (instantaneously?), but there was simply no strawberry foam - no remnants of strawberry flavor even. No trace of pink, just 2 slices of freeze dried strawberry. That being said, it was a fine matcha latte. If that was what I had ordered and paid for, I’d be content. Quality control seems...

Ordered a cortado and received a super foamy drink that was about 10oz total. These are not speciality grade drinks. It's a fine place to get cold brew and smoothies but stay away from milk drinks.

UPDATED REVIEW 6/25/23 Walked into the shop, no one in line, maybe 2 customers in the entire store. I stand in front of the register for a good 5-10 seconds while the cashier and barista do the “we’re not going to welcome or acknowledge your existence dance” of intentional eye contact avoidance. I walk out and that will be my last experience at a Gregory’s coffee. The employees are definitely wrong here, but I’m sure there is some toxic management or cut hours or cuts to training and customer service going on...

Ok drip coffee and vegan bar (maybe 3 stars) but terrible internet speed. Why did you bother putting tables around if you won’t service at least 1mbps internet? I was getting 200-500kbps, like dial up speeds. It wasn’t like a lot of people were sitting inside either. Like 5-6 people were there and yet this is the state of internet. Totally and utterly unusable. You can’t even check emails with that kind of speed nowadays. At least put a sign on the door so that people can pass on to other places. If you want a good coffee just go to the 787 Coffee like 50ft away and if good internet is what you’re looking then go to Starbucks which is like 30ft away.
