Rude employee
If is were for the this person service I will have a 1 star, as well as some other regular customers have post here, I've been struggling with the service in this place, needless to say the coffee is wonderful but the service can be very inconsistent. Today 11/24/14 at 9:05AM I came in as usual to gregory's (when I say I am regular I meant I come every morning 5 days a week) normally everything is fine, when things get ugly is when they rush customers to take their orders, and then being inefficient at register and even more at delivering your drink.... I have to admit this depends on who is attending behind the counter the blond manager is outstanding and some of the people that has been there for a while are very sweet, attentive and efficient, I normally don't complain but today is enough for a while there is a young woman, whom has sarcasm and a bad attitude. I don't know if its personal but this is wrong, she is responsive and mean, today while she was the barista, she made it pretty clear what type of service I will be getting when she was in charge of my drinks. First She hand me over a bad froth latte, I wish I could attach the photo on how they look... but also want to make it noticed is that before my second drink arrived she deliver a well froth latte to another client then she gave me mine cleary looking like crap, and when I said something claiming that it was wrong, she interrupted me and sarcastically said "well you have a nice day..."...
Read moreI absolutely loved Gregoryâs Coffee! This little shop quickly became one of the highlights of our stay in lower Manhattanâwe went every single morning of our trip because it was that good.
The coffee was impressively smooth and non-acidic, which instantly won us over. On the first day, we tried the Iced Biscotti Testarossa and the Fall Oat Boy latte. Both were fantastic! The mascarpone foam on the Testarossa had a slightly more lemony tang than I expected, but it was still delicious. The Fall Oat Boy, however, stole the showâit was so good we ordered it every day after that!
The ambiance was bright and open, making it a lovely spot to relax, though the louder music made it less ideal for getting work done. The pastries looked pretty good, but I didnât try any, so I canât speak to how they taste.
That said, consistency was a bit of an issue. On the second day, the Fall Oat Boy was made by the same barista but tasted much less sweet. On the third day, a different barista made it sweet enough, but the drink was so hot it was undrinkable for about 10â15 minutes. Despite this, the quality of the drinks overall kept us coming back.
I was thrilled to learn Gregoryâs has locations in other cities, including one near me in DCâI canât wait to visit! If youâre looking for a cozy spot with standout coffee, I highly...
Read moreThis cafĂ© is the worst in the city. If youâre a traveler, especially an Asian one, I strongly recommend avoiding this place. The staff were not only extremely rude, but I also felt discriminated against as an Asian tourist. I visited with my family and ordered drinks like an Americano and hot chocolate, along with leaving a reasonable tip. A Black female staff member prepared the Americano, but what I received was not an Americanoâit was essentially hot water with a blackish-brown tint. When I pointed out that there seemed to be an issue with the Americano, she curtly replied, âThatâs how an AMERICANO is supposed to be.â The male staff member standing nearby dismissed my concern as if I was simply asking for an extra shot. Having lived in US for 6+ years and drinking 2-3 cups of Americano every day, I know exactly how an Americano is supposed to taste. What they served me was absolutely not an Americano. Additionally, the male staff member spilled the hot chocolate I ordered for my child while handing it to me, and then made a new one. Although he claimed it was a mistake, I couldnât help but feel deeply uncomfortable, wondering whether it was an honest error or some kind of discriminatory gesture I wasnât aware of. Either way, the experience was...
