Ok, so my friend who lives in Hells Kitchen, mentioned a few weeks ago, that I MUST go to Huascar Bakery. He said that he and his partner goes all the time, and that it’s one of the best bakeries in the city. Me being a foodie and food vlogger, I was instantly intrigued! I was also a bit disappointed that I never heard of them :-( . But as I say, better late than never, right?! I made it my business to get to Huascar’s! So, I pull up, and I start filming outside the bakery, first. It’s a small, humble-sized bakery, with cute decor. The inside is small and cute. I love the utilization of the board, where they have their name, as well as the menu items. The wall with the flowers on it is sooo cute! I really dug it and even got lost in its beauty for a few seconds! Their display case of all their goodies is thee most tempting site to behold! They think they slick lol. I wanted EVERYTHING! The woman who was working, was a DOLL! Ugh! She was the sweetest, and most helpful. We joked and laughed and talked about sweets we love, what I should try that was seasonal, I mean we had a great time. I really appreciated her and she contributed to the experience just as much as the baked goods. The owner then came out to greet me and he was super sweet. He asked about my food vlog and we chatted with me for a bit. I expressed my excitement to try his cupcakes, considering he won Cupcake Wars on Food Network! Ok, speaking of the cupcakes, I’ll use that as a segue to get into what I ate! The first being……yes! A cupcake lol. I tried the guava peaches and cream cupcake, which….girl. This cupcake was done beautifully. It was topped with this guava cream cheese frosting, crumble, and drizzled with guava. It was stuffed with peaches and LOTS.OF.GUAVA! This cupcake was fluffy, lite and airy. It was absolute perfection, and it was truly a flavor journey that I didn’t want to end. I also tried their key lime pie, which was beyond impressive. I have had thee best key lime pie from Key West, and Huascar’s Bakeshop holds its own! They DID.THAT.CUSTARD! It was the perfect amount of lime flavor, nicely rich and laid atop a thick graham cracker crust. It was topped with lime zest and whipped cream. This pie was made with love. You taste it in every bite. Lastly, I tried the Black Forest cake which was cake….at its finest. The cake itself was MOIST! Paired with the cherry and whipped cream??? Fuh-get about it! It was served in a jar, which, just made it more fun to eat for some reason. Again, I was soo disappointed that I was late to the Huascar Bakeshop party, but I’m glad that I finally got to go and enjoy its divinity! Gooooooooo...
Read moreI found out about this bakery thru Telemundo TV. I was excited to come over and try their desserts. I was finally at the bakery on February 13th 2019. Chef Huascar was leaving as I came in and I said "Hola" , he responded "Hola" and when I asked him for a certain cupcake flavor on his website, he said it was a summer flavor therefore, they didnt have it now. He quickly left to what it seemed to be a delivery. The bakery is tiny and they have a small variety of sweets. When Chef Huascar was gone, I was left with a guy who was helping Chef to put things inside the van and with a rude cashier or server, her name "Natasha". I asked her the cupcake flavors and she started yelling and laughing every time she answered one of my questions. I asked her: Do you have anything with blueberries? She answered: NOOOOOOO, in a loud voice, then giggled. I asked: can you tell me what flavor is this pink cupcake? Again she answered: "PINK LEMONADE HAHAHA" getting louder This kept escalating to the point that her coworker an Asian guy, looked at her and tried to be polite to me. Next question was answered in a worst way. She raised her voice even louder and giggled with whoever was working in the back of the bakery ( I didnt see them only heard them) I was the ONLY customer in the tiny store. You'd think they'd treat you right but this lady was completely rude and racist as she was whispering things like " No English " I do speak English but I only said "Hola" to the Chef as a way of support for our Latin roots. I saw no problem with that but apparently his cashier did. I still went ahead and purchased 4 cupcakes, to my surprise they were stale and extremely sweet to the point that the chocolate cupcake was thrown out. The cupcakes had a commercial taste to them and I honestly think that any other store has better quality cupcakes. I don't want to imagine how she treats tourists who probably speak no English. She had pleasure making fun of me and being rude for no reason. Its now my pleasure to say that you've lost a...
Read moreDisappointing first time experience. Received a surprise "hope you feel better gift" from my sister in California. Delivery man did not go into my office lobby..had several calls with my sister who finally had to call me to leave my office and meet him outside. The cupcakes were stale. Sent a picture to my sister and told her they were very pretty, but stale. She called and the owner/manager/baker asked to speak to me directly...really..is that necessary? I work at a large corporation..I order from a lot of different places and have complained TWICE in a span of several years about an order I received (including this incident). The restaurant apologizes, offers a refund or duplicate and I move on. He explained about the delivery service he uses and agreed that was unacceptable. However, he found it hard to believe that the cupcakes were stale. I was a little annoyed that he thought I was being deceptive. He insisted that he didn't think I was lying, but found it hard to believe the cupcakes were stale. Told him I ate two different cupcakes and he could pick up the rest. He said he would have his delivery company pick them up and would credit my sister's account. In an instance like this, I don't think it's a lot to ask a company just to apologize and say that this sort of thing never happens, they're sorry for the disappointment, etc. not, "Gee I find that hard to believe (meaning you're lying). Oh well, I told my sister next time she can order from the multitude of well-established bakeries in...
