I've been a fan of their pistachio twist which looks like a twisted muffin to me. Been to all their locations in Brooklyn and Manhattan, and I've never experienced rudeness from the store personnel until today, 2/26/24 at 6:15pm. I went to Julien (72nd street) today to get that but didn't see it on the shelf, so I asked the store personnel if they still have the pistachio MUFFIN with like twist on top and he loudly and sarcastically answered THIS IS A FRENCH BAKERY. WE DON'T SELL MUFFINS!!! I mean he could have just said no or we don't have muffins .. I'm almost certain he knew what I meant because they don't have 100 variety of muffin looking pistachio! I've spent time in France, and I guess I'm more conscious in reading/ordering when I am in foreign countries vs NYC which is home, and Julien is familiar to me. I usually would just say 3 pistachios or point at it and never had problems. Today was the first time I came that was sold out or as he said was taken off the menu Btw, there are a lot of FRENCH BAKERIES that sell muffins....
Read moreThis place is mediocre at best. However, they charge a premium price. Service leaves much to be desired, so do the actually pastries, unfortunately. This place was so hyped up on IG, which is why we planned to go there in advance, expecting those unique square fresh croissants with crème filling oozing out of it… but it couldn’t be farther from the truth. The creme inside was stiff, the dough was rough - all in all - the pasties were not fresh. They tasted like they were 2-3 days old. For $9.50 per piece ?!?!?! We didn’t even finish the pasties we got. Together with not-so-welcoming service - this place left an impression of being one of those overrated NYC overnight viral success stories, that either gave up on trying to do their best, or never actually cared enough to go beyond paying some influencers to promote them on IG, so that the unsuspecting public runs over to give them $10 for their 3- day -old pastry… oh, also, their bathroom was out of order. While they have at least 10 tables and serve coffee and other...
Read moreNice new pastry shop opened on 3rd Avenue in place of the old T-mobile store. I loved the place until I got home and I looked at my credit card receipt that I received by email from Julien Boulangerie, NY (3rd Ave), and saw they charged me $1.10 for a 3.99% credit card convenience Charge. I think that is very low class behaviour and a huge rip off to the local community. Everyone uses credit cards these days and I just consider that is really abusing one’s clients. There is no sign warning one that if you use a credit card you will be charged an Extra 3.99% fee. I consider that is probably also illegal. It’s one thing charging premium prices like $4 + Tax for a small can of favoured water To Go, (totally my choice to pay that) but please don’t sneak/steal another 3.99% from me for greed, because it makes me think the owners of Julien enjoy robbing their clients blind. Stay away, there are better places nearby like Breads Bakery or...
